What do we think of Brainiac being a Kryptonian AI that just fucked off and went on to harvest shit from other cultures? Like the idea has only made appearances in the DCAU and MAWS, but it's definitely a way to make Brainiac feel more personal.
I’m generally not much a fan of having every Superman villain in some way trace back to Krypton, I just think it’s boring. That being said god damn did My Adventures pull it off well.

So origin wise, do you prefer Kryptonian AI Brainiac that straight up went "fuck this species, I'm leaving with your shit" or the whole Colu shit?
both are interesting! I somewhat prefer the Colu origin because I think Krypton dying as a direct result of the hubris of Kryptonians themselves - as opposed to outsourcing that blame to a robot - is more narratively satisfying as well as being important as a real-life allegory.
However, with the rise of AI and its impacts on humanity and the environment, I'm not opposed to "we blindly trusted our AI and it ruined our planet" as a cautionary tale, either.

I really want Brainiac to still be around mostly because even if he is a monster, he's still Kara's father. She still loves him and some part of him still loves her back. I think it would make sense for Kara to want to disable him as a threat but keep him alive so that there's at least the chance of an eventual fresh start between them without his lies and manipulations getting in the way. Even if it's a completely irrational hope on her part, well, love has nothing to do with rational and hope is what the S stands for.

As with Brainiac, I'd never had strong feelings about Cyborg Superman as a villain either way before but MAWS really just commits to making them so detestable that I can't help but love to hate them. And in both cases they leave just enough of a sliver of genuine humanity in there to make it possible to authentically engage with them as characters, which is what makes them really hit.
