Bruce took you of shopping for the gala the day after the dinner. You got your dream dress, got your nails and hair done, new shoes, jewels and he just spoiled.
You were gonna make your engagement public with this.
He already had called Clark. He didnât that the press but he knew Clark wouldnât put anything bad about you, so he wanted to be sure Clark would be there.
Alfred was coordinating the crew while the others got ready.
The Gala began, guests and press entering. The kids were all here. Except for Kate who was patrolling and Jason who simply said âI may be officially alive but the press doesnât know it. Iâd rather keep it that way.â
Valid, so you left him be.
Damian was busy sulking- he hated the attention.
Dick was here with Kori, fawning over the way to gorgeous alien- she looked incredible in her green dress.
Tim was flirting with some pretty girl.
Cass was hiding behind a column, surprisingly successful.
Steph was hanging around with Duke, Barbs and Luke.
Jim was talking to a minister.
Bruce was busy kissing you behind some wall, absolutely devouring you until he got a call- Clark. He wanted to make an interview with you two before the other reporters got to you.
Bruce grunted, brooding. âLetâs just tell everyone and go to our roomâ
He emphasised the our part, set on reminding you that soon everything will belong both of you.
You giggled and pressed a kiss on his cheek. âCâmon baby, people are here for us.â
He sulked a bit more before putting on a smoky face and leading you inside. He spotted Clark quickly and speed walked over to him with you on his arm.
âBruce!â Clark smiled widely. Bruce gave him a nod. âReporter Kent. Nice to see you around here.â
âWould you mind answering a couple questions?â Clark smiled and raised his eyebrow at you. You smiled âI would love to, Mr. Kent.â You nodded. âPlease, just call me Clark, MissâŚ?â You gave him your name.
âGreat! Now to our questions⌠how did you two met?â Bruceâs eyes lit up and he started to ramble, only letting you to fill in with your own thoughts. He loved talking about you. His excitement and enthusiasm making you smile.
Soon after Clark was done a bunch of reporters started to swarm over you.
Some asked appropriate questions:
âHow long have you been together?â
âWho proposed first?â
âWhen is the wedding set?â
âWhat field does Miss work in?â
âDo you have any siblings Miss?â
Some were not. They made you want to hide in a hole and never come out again.
âHow do you know she is not a gold digger?â
âIs it true you used to be a stripper, Miss?â
âDid you lower your standards, Mister Bruce?â
âIs the dress even appropriate?â
âDid the Miss ask for such an expensive necklace?â
Bruce answered only the appropriate questions:
âFor 1 year nowâ
âI proposedâ
âIn around 4 monthsâ
You answered some too in order to Kew yourself busy and distracted.
âI work as anâŚâ
âI have [no/amount] siblingsâ
One question made Bruce loose his temper and punch the reporter who asked it.
âIs it true that the Miss has multiple lovers?â
You held his arm, trying to pull him away. âBruce! Stop it!â
He throw in another punch, soon enough Duck and Kori were helping you out, together you were able to pull him towards the buffet.
âBruce please!â You cupped his face, eyes teary. âI donât want you to get harmed- I donât know that reporter canât hit you back but the PR backlash will be too muchâŚâ
He sighed and cupped your face, pulling you in for a deep kiss in the middle of the ball room.
Cameras went off, flashes shining as he devoured you in front of everyone.
No one dared to utter another bad word again after that scene.
Bruce made a picture of that moment his wallpaper.
And you started to prepare for the wedding- with the plan of having only Lois for press and Clark as Bruceâs best man.

This little snippet came from my bestie who has collected these sorts of little gems since forever--well, since 1987, which is long enough--and shares them with me whenever we launch into one of our "What if...?" or "Do you think...? regarding the Lovely Louise and her five little rugrats.
But this one is useful as an exemplar of the apparent precursor to The Daily Mail regarding gaslighting, invective, and just plain lies. The slime tossed at Hortense is particularly amusing, as well as the mention of Savary's wife and the Lovely Louise.
Those of you who know about Hortense, please jump in.
For context: this refers to the disruptions post-Waterloo.
From The Times, 1 July 1815:
âAmong the shameless women, who have had a great share in the late atrocious conspiracy, is the wife of Lous Buonaparte, who, by the liberality of the King, was allowed to bear the title of Duchess of St. Leu, with a large revenue: which with the basest ingratitude she dedicated to the fomenting of those treasons that led to the late bloody scenes. This woman is noticed to be still at Malmaison.
âWe trust that she, as well as the soi-disant duchesses of Rovigo, Montebello, &c., at whose houses the late plots were formed, will be sent to end their days at the House of Correction, with the females whom they resemble in depravity.
âWe some time ago spoke of sending these worthless people of both sexes to Botany Bay; but a correspondent justly observes, that this would be to endanger the morals of our own transports who, however degraded in character here, still retain something of English feeling, and are strangers to that extreme turpitude which marks the heroes and heroines of the Revolutionary drama. The hopes held out by the Rebel Government of rallying the troops are exceedingly slight.â

Summary: Lila and her mindless sheep had made school annoying to the heroes of Paris. Add Lila lies about heroes fights with Akumas, now school has officially become hell to the heroes. They are already getting bad press, they don't need Lila lies adding to their stress.
Author's Notes: Another chapter and this time with a side of salt.
School was annoying to the heroes by this point. First off having to hear Lila stories constantly was enough for Marinette to debate whether to jump out of the classroom window was a good idea or not. There was also the fact that Miss Bustier did nothing to help Adrien who was quite clearly being harrassed by Lila everyday or make the class stop trash-talking Marinette behind her back and excluding her from activities.
Both heroes decided to just ignore their classmates and concentrate on the studies either if that meant getting on Miss Bustierâs âproblemâ list. She saw that the two teenage heroes ignoring their âfriendsâ and decided they must be the issue, not their âfriendsâ insted. She was constantly trying to set them up to joining group activities but Adrien had a small chat with his father and manage to make sure that the school would put Marinette and Adrien together in group projects at all times since they had the best results when they worked together which was true so Miss Bustier didnât really have a leg to stand on.
Which brings us today, it had just been a day after the Excalibur Akuma meaning Ladybug injury was a hot topic of conversation. Both Adrien and Marinette were busy with the math worksheet they had gotten when Miss Bustier had to go check on another class since that classâs teacher had to go have a meeting with a parent. The rest of the class were busy discussing what happened during the attack.
âAlya why do you still film the Akuma attacks, if you knew it was that dangerous?â question Nino still not overseeing his girlfriend nearly killed right before his eyes.
âI have never seen an Akuma hurt people like that, thereâs never been any bloodâ exclaimed Alya who had black bags under her eyes,
âPoor ladybugâ whimpered Rose who was being comforted by Juleka,
âLadybug has come to me before to be patched upâ announced Lila gaining the class attention,
âReally?â question Sabrina,
âYeah, she worried most people wonât see her as a hero if they find out how much blood is spilt in an Akuma batt-â Lila cut herself off with a gasp, âsorry I shouldnât be telling you this, I promised to keep it quietâ.
Both Adrien and Marinette look up glaring at the girl, knowing that she was making this the perfect opportunity for the class to lose trust in the heroes and with Alyaâs blog maybe Paris as well since the press from yesterday was already pretty bad with their abilities to save Paris being called into question.
âWait what do you mean bloodshed?â question Alya getting out her phone,
âWell according to ladybug some Akuma battles are to difficult to be able to restain an Akuma with breaking a few bones of the Akuma or making them bleedâ answered Lila,
âTheyâve made the Akumas bleed?â squeaked Mylène,
âYeah, I always thought that they should try another method but Ladybug never listensâ complained Lila,
âI thought heroes were supposed to help the Akuma victims not hurt themâ questioned Sabrina curling in on herself thinking back to when she was akumatised, she didnât remember getting any serious injures when being an Akuma but to be far she couldnât remember much from the attack so the heroes of Paris could have hurt her without her knowledge.
âYou guys do remember that Ladybug was stabbed in the chest by an Akuma, something that would kill a normal personâ stated Marinette raising an eyebrow,
âBut they donât have to-â Lila was cut off by Adrien,
âHawkmoth doesnât play flair, Ladybug and Chat Noir have been thrown through buildings and said building crush them from what weâve seen and they start to only fight with less restraint when that happensâ he snapped,
âFrom yesterdayâs injury, I bet they only start to break bones and shed blood when the Akumaâs have done it to themâ continued Chloe picking at her nails.
âTheyâre heroes, they should know betterâ argued Alya who was still filming,
âI like to see you lot do any betterâ snapped Chloe,
âIâm sure Alya would do way better than you, Queen Beeâ sneered Lila,
âYeah, I bet youâve hurt Akumas,â said Sabrina which caused a look of hurt to show on Chloeâs face but she quickly covered it up,
âI may have been an inexperienced hero but I would never cause bodily harm to someone unless it was self-defenceâ yelled Chloe.
Before the rest of the class could gang up on Chloe, they were silence by Marinette slamming both her hands on the desk. âFirst off Queen Bee has only appeared when it daylight so people would have seen her hurt an Akuma and since no one has said anything, itâs quite clear Chloe didnât do anything like thatâ argued Adrien trying to keep his temper in check.
âAnd second off Lila you apparently were sposed to keep this secret but you suddenly spill this secret when the press are already doubting the heroes so quite frankly it looks like you just trying to add to the bad pressâ continued Marinette,
âI would never do something like that, sheâs my friendâ gasped Lila which sounded so fake it was laughable,
âYeah, she only spilt that secret on accidentâ agreed Sabrina,
âYeah, sure she didâ sneered Marinette while Adrien just glared daggers at Lila.
Before the others could reply, the lunch bell went off and Miss Bustier came back in. âI hope you all have finished the worksheets or it will be homework,â said Miss Bustier, âYes, Miss Bustierâ replied the class in unison. âAdrien, letâs grab lunch at my placeâ stated Marinette, Adrien quietly agreed as both of them hurried out of class with Chloe not far behind them. The rest of the class was quietly discussing what Lila had said and Alya was already editing the video in order to put it on the ladyblog knowing the rest of Paris should know the information that Lila had told the class.
Author's Notes: Finally adding more Lila salt to this series. Hope you guys have enjoyed this series so far.
So, I follow a lot of fic related accounts, and also see people send in asks like âshould I leave crit...?â or âdo authors want constructive crit...?â
As a sometimes fic author, my answer is: only leave it if the author asks for it. If they donât, then donât.
So, now youâre thinking: But what if I donât like the fic, ColorCoated? Shouldnât I say something?
Ummm, nope. You donât have to love it or even like it! Nobody likes everything! In fact, I keep liking TV shows that keep getting canceled, which is annoying. So keep those thoughts to yourself and move on. A03 has at least two billion other fics to read.
Why am I have thoughts on crit this morning? Mostly because I woke up to this is my inbox.
Luckily, I donât take this to heart. I got most of my followers while writing Sugar Sweet, and you all legit know how much I love it and how much I enjoyed the characters.
So, it doesnât get to me, doesnât bother me. But, I have lots of messages from people telling me they started writing their first fic, or they wrote 2k words, etc. I support those people because writing is such a fun, creative outlet. And Iâd hate to think someone like this could discourage new writers who are just starting out and trying something new. Heck, you donât have to be a new writer. Iâm sure stuff like that could get to anyone.
So, my friends, if the author doesnât leave an opening for crit: donât give it. Itâs that simple.
(And for the record, I made sure to be equally as honest with this commenter, which I know some people have a hard time doing đ. )
