hii nat can u explain how people get high quality photos of art for prints is it a photograph or like a scanner and is it done outside of the glass somehow like how does that process work and who is doing it
HIII!!!
yes so if they’re smaller and more stable works, or photographs they’ll use flatbed scanners with no less than 600 dpi (dots per inch) for good quality / usually higher dpi depending on the intricate details (also it’s done pressed into the glass!)
if it’s a larger more stable work they can also use a CRUSE scanner that eliminates the need for the work to be pressed into the glass but it’s a billion dollars (actually like $150,000+ and if you outsource they charge like $150 per work scanned) so a lot of institutions don’t have access to those but they’re super cool! and scan at 1,000 dpi
but for larger works (or works that aren’t flat bc of texture or works that are more unstable) they use a special camera that’s lined up perfectly to avoid inaccuracies!! and that’s what takes insane high resolution images :))
and then all images are imported into an editing platform/software to color correct for accuracy and to crop and rotate if needed etc etc
a lot of museums have in house digitization departments that are responsible for these duties and smaller museums often have to use grants and such to contact a third party that will digitize their collections for them! (it’s a lot of very hard specialized work) for me, at my old job i was able to digitize most of the flatbed works for the scanner but the ones that required camera equipment were wayyy above my pay grade 😭😭
the love island tweet challenge but it’s just you cherry picking fic comments 🤏🤏🤏
you get itttttttt>>>
need you and jo to go stand in a fucking corner. did not need that kind of breakdown about myself at 2:43pm on a fucking wednesday.
and you put it FIRST too. so I can’t even escape it. how dare you. spent a solid minute looking at wednesday because it looks so wrong
bathroom people are superior (i don’t make the rules !)
i have all my breakdowns and transformations in the bathroom idc idc.
like i’ve had a good cry in the bedroom that’s gone to level ten in the shower or i’ve crashed out in the bathroom that’s continued to the bedroom but bathroom ppl are my ppl fr.
let’s not even get into the fact that i would lock myself in the bathroom to read wattpad updates from imaginator1d’s after series HAHAHA
can i submit closet breakdown people as well nat?? also i would love a fr breakdown from u on all these types of people if u have one
hello my most beloved ever!!!! yes!! you absolutely can submit closet for consideration (i don't think my closet has ever been clean enough for me to become who i am in there but ik that this is not the case for many people) as for my break down ...
bathroom people: deeply private individuals. introspective. figure it out themselves. have a hard time asking for help and/or being vulnerable. very cyclical (in terms of being born and dead and reborn) i think this is because as children, a bathroom is often one of the first and only places we have access to a locked room (aka total privacy) so if you find solace in that, there's a comfort in being completely hidden from the world while you work through whatever you're going through alone. jarring cold floor tile to comfort or shock you. it's also really easy to turn on the tap or the shower to hide your crying. easier still to set the temps to boiling to scrub away whatever wretched day or thing that has clung to you. this is where transformations happen (impulsive haircuts, random piercings, crazy hair dye) transforming yourself again and again into something different, cleaner, better, worse. born and reborn. the bathroom is your witness, it sees you drunk, euphoric before a party, sick, numb, grieved, discovering your first grey hair. catalogs your life in mascara stains on towels, hair dye stained sinks. little signs for the next bathroom person that you were here once too, feeling everything life has to offer, and even though they're alone, they're not alone.
kitchen people: very social. they are their best selves when they're with the people the people they love. yearners. they yearn for community, connection, intimacy. tend to be romantics. the kitchen is often a focal gathering place for families and friends. it's the best place to congregate during a house party because that's where all the best conversations happen. it's a place of nourishment. but it's also a place to take stock of your life. coming home from a long day of work to stand in your dark and empty kitchen is the loudest silence. it's (TO ME) the loneliest you can feel in your home. loneliness that i think is often amplified by all the moments of suspension in the kitchen. waiting for the water to boil. waiting for the oven to preheat. the microwave to ding. waiting for the sun to come up after the party is over. kitchen people (unlike bathroom people) do not necessarily enjoy these moments of solitude that echo strongly of loneliness, but they recognize their importance. i also think kitchen people tend to be scared of change. they find comfort in routine and use it as an excuse to avoid doing the hard things that frighten them (e.g. "i'll apply to college after the dishes are done, or the water is boiled, or the meal is made, or once the fridge is organized)
bedroom people: deeeeeply nostalgic people. they are chasing something (usually a feeling) they're never going to get back and maybe never even had. they are the builders and architects of their own archive. they are interior people, constantly collecting evidence of who they are and who they want to become. bedroom people are extremely optimistic (even if they're reluctant to admit it) they stare at the ceiling and imagine all their different lives, rearrange their furniture to start new, form ambitious plans from the comfort of their bed. make promises to themselves that they'll begin again tomorrow morning and tomorrow and tomorrow. they live and relive in conversations and scenes, alter them, change them for next time, better prepare themselves in their daydreams. the bedroom is the first space you have to develop the curated self as a child. what color do you paint your walls? what posters do you hang? what toys do you display for the public eye. now where do you hide your diary? or the letter from your first secret boyfriend? or the magazine posters of your first celebrity crush? under the mattress? buried in the closet? bedroom people live in the past while promising themselves they will move forward tomorrow, they'll change their bedsheets and let the light in and move on in the morning, just let them have one more night.
dining room people: romanticizers of the mundane. reserved. values structure. dining room people take comfort in the fact that everything has a place and time. there are rules in the world that keep them grounded. they like creating perfectly arranged scenes. they're contemplative. they will always pick structure over chaos. they like a little pomp and circumstance. they're going to drink out of an actual glass, not slurp from the sink tap. they're lighting the good candles for nobody but themselves. they like the ceremony of it. the dining room, by nature, is a performance space. so dining room people are extremely self-aware. rehearsed. they want things to feel meaningful. the dining room isn't as private as the bathroom or bedroom, not as open as kitchen or living room (in modern times). it's often a bit neglected. only used for parties or family gatherings. or holidays. so i feel dining room people are always in an anticipatory state, patient, but always waiting for the right time, the right person, the right moment for their life to truly begin. there is a dignity in curation, in performance, there is safety in restraint and rule following.
living room people: bright, outgoing. extroverted. the living room has the sole purpose of being a shared space. it functions best when multiple people are there enjoying it. being together and coexistence is the whole point. so living room people tend to find comfort in others, in familiarity, in people existing around them. they're adaptable, they're warm, people trust them with their secrets. they hate silence. they'll do anything to avoid being alone. they keep the tv on at all hours of the night just to hear people talk. they'll hide their empty couch with multiple pillows and blankets. on the worst night of their life they'll curl up on the couch and turn on the tv. the voices make them feel less alone, the same cheery ads and mundane plotlines remind them that life goes on. they find comfort in watching a world unaffected by and unaware of the tragedy they just faced. they'll sweep things under the rug. distract themselves until they physically can't ignore the issue anymore. they are selfless. they want to share all aspects of their life with people, they want to live their life beside yours. they find comfort in being a part of a collective memory. this is where we watched our childhood cartoons. this is where we piled up on the couch as new roommates at 19 when we thought we knew everything. this is where we played board games until 5 in the morning the night before you moved away. to be known is to be loved to them.
why wouldn't they use their final two minutes to beat That goalie to death on live tv? they should've beat his ass to death. with their hockey sticks.

If I want to be alone, some place I can write, I can read, I can pray, I can cry, I can do whatever I want - I go to the bathroom.
I would destroy and betray myself for one (1) iced coffee. Don't mess with me.
