#bad batch thoughts

Just here for another request if you don't mind ☺️ I was wondering how the members of the Bad Batch would help/comfort the reader who's really stressed because of school (like a lot of projects to turn in and reader is stressed because they don't have motivation to work but know they have to) ?

Let's say I'm a bit in that situation right now (have a lot of work to do but no motivation even though I don't have much time to finish them) and I just need some comfort from the boys 🥺 have a good day/night ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough go with school 🥺🫂 I know it's hard! You've got this, love!!

How the Bad Batch would help you during struggles in school...

Hunter

He would know quicker than anyone that something is troubling you (enhanced senses and all)

When you tell him you're struggling with your schoolwork and just are lacking motivation, he asks if there's anything he can do to help

If you say yes, he'll do whatever you ask to the best of his ability

If you say no/you don't know, he'll go ahead and still offer words of encouragement as well as offer suggestions as to how to keep you motivated

"You've got this, trooper. I understand this is hard for you, but I believe in you. You'll get through this, I know it."

Echo

He'll bring you water and food to help keep your energy up when you tell him you're tired, but need to keep working on your project

If it's anything involving mechanics, he considers himself a bit of an expert in that field and would be glad to help if he can

He offers to stay with you and help keep you on task

He's good about keeping your morale up when you start to give up and encourages you to keep going

"I know you can do this. You're smart and hardworking. This project won't get the better of you because you're the best. Keep going!"

Tech

Of course, being the exceptionally-minded one, he's quick to come sit with you and offer whatever knowledge you require for your work

He tells you that taking breaks throughout your work is beneficial for your health so you don't experience burnout

He'll gladly offer assistance in making sure you're doing your assignments correctly

Not only that, but if he sees you've made any errors, instead of telling you "you're wrong", he'll explain how to find the correct answer and guide you so you can figure it out on your own

"If you give up now, you will surely fail, and failure is not in our nature. I shall endeavor to ensure you succeed, no matter what it takes."

Wrecker

He might not really know what it is you're working on, but he's willing to still do whatever he can think of to cheer you up

Lula suddenly ends up next to you and he informs you she's a good study buddy

Pats on the back and playful arm nudges are a must from him to let you know how well you're doing

If you happen to be studying anything about weapons or explosives, he'll get excited and offer to help you, as well...otherwise, he'll just direct you to Tech

"Studying and projects were hard for me, too. You're not alone. But don't worry, everyone moves at their own pace and you'll get to the end in no time!"

Crosshair

At first, he wonders why you're making such a fuss over doing work, but when he sees how tired and miserable you are, he has a change in demeanor

He'll sit beside you and ask, a bit calmer, what’s troubling you about your project

He's more of a tough love kind of guy; he'll tell you that moping around and not feeling motivated will get you nowhere

If it looks like you're faltering, he'll give you a nudge in the arm and make sure you keep at it

"I'm not going to let you give up because I know you're above this silly project. You're going to do great things...and I'm going to be there when you do."

Same, Anon, same. Very well, I shall put in my two cents. Thank you for the ask!!

I agree that Wrecker would be super into it and probably go hardcore. He does all the spins, ducks, and jumps without hesitation. I think out of the Batch, he'd be the one who plays it the most with Omega. And as a result of that, I headcanon that while the moves may not be spot-on, he does a pretty darn good job from doing it so often! He's the guy who ends up knowing every single dance to every song.

Echo is probably the second-most-experienced Just Dancer only because I think he'd end up doing it a bunch of times with Omega. He's got a soft spot for the kid and can't help but enjoy seeing her happy and having fun, and he ends up getting into it along the way. I think he'd even get competitive and try to top his and Wrecker's previous top scores.

Crosshair is just...no. He refuses. You won't catch him doing it ever, but he'll watch everyone else with a toothpick between his teeth and taunt them. Especially Wrecker, even though he's one of the best Just Dancers in the group.

Hunter will do it once in a while after tons of begging from Omega and a challenge from Wrecker. He's a little awkward and rigid, stares directly at the screen the whole time and barely moves his feet. Still, no one has the heart to make fun (except Crosshair).

But that being said, I wish they’d taken it in a different direction plot wise. Because the story they set up and the story they ended up going with are very different and frankly, what it felt to me like they were setting up would have been far cooler.

I understand why there is such a divide between the Batch and the other clones. I mean they were separated and kept separate from the other clones, they were told that they were different and better, and treated differently. They were raised to believe they were superior. Meanwhile the rest of the clones had to be perfect and conform and not show any individuality or difference or they’d be taken and never seen again. Then they see these other clones who are treated differently and have these traits. No wonder there’s bitterness there.

And then the war starts, and instead of getting closer those gaps widen because they’re bitter at each other and abrasive and the Batch are still being called in to ‘fix’ problems the ‘regular’ clones can’t. The situation is made worse not better. And I get why, because people can be stubborn and a lot of their perceived biases were being reinforced a little on both sides and when you’re bitter at someone it can be hard to extend a hand, especially if they then refuse it or it ends up being dismissed.

I get why they were so separate.

And that’s why I wanted Order 66 to be an equaliser.

Because it didn’t matter that they were different. That their defects were desired. The Order went live, and Crosshair became just like every other clone and the Empire had control over them. The Empire took just about everything and they were just as much tools as any other clone. They had to grab Omega and escape with what they had on them (and their ship) and they couldn’t even save one of their batch when it happened.

And then they’d work with Rex and they’re living with Echo and on their mission to save Crosshair they’d work with and save other clones, and they’d be equal. They’d realise they had names and personalities too, and their own skills and unique strengths that they hadn’t been able to show on Kamino. And they’d rescue Crosshair and he’d have sympathy and that would start their new purpose after the fall of the Republic, which is to save the others. All of them.

They’d use the skill that had once set them apart to help right the wrongs that had been committed against all of them. The realisation that they’re no different to the ‘regs’ really and the change in their mindset. They’d grow and learn and move past the things they were raised to think to something better.

Instead Crosshair chooses the Empire, which kinda detracts from the horror and point of the chips, the rest of the batch haven’t really changed their opinions on ‘Regs’ that much, and we get very little of the horror of Order 66 for the Clones actually shown.

The point of the chips, the horror of the chips, is that it took away their identities and free will and choice, and that should have been a larger plot point, for all of them whether their chips went active or not, but instead, off camera, apparently Crosshair removed his and it’s no longer a problem and it’s all his choice. He’s not angry he was enslaved, he’s not angry about the things he was forced to do against his will, that he was made into a living droid, which was something they hadn’t liked about the other clones. There’s no sympathy or anything that you’d expect from a shared experience like that.

It doesn’t quite make sense to me and it really reduces the impact of what’s happening to the other clones because aside from a few bits here and there (Howzer, Rex, Wrecker), he’s the character we were supposed to be following to see the impact of the chips. The horror of them, of being turned against people you cared about and having your agency removed. And then we didn’t get that.

Omega has been sheltered for most of her life, and Boba was in prison at 13. He would see her as in the way.

They were probably not raised together, so he would not have any sentimental feelings for her.
