#Poetry #Poem THE PLAN by Bill Kochman 06-03-2018 Our church is so dead, we need a plan, So give me some new ideas, if you can. Well, let's talk about everything but sin, Then some new churchgoers we will win. Maybe if some strobe lights we can offer, They will all come and fill up our coffer. While we're at it, let's crack a few jokes, After all, we gotta loosen up those folks. And don't forget musicians for the crowd, Even hard rock music should be allowed. But no Bible, let's sell our books instead, We need cash, our church is in the red. Let's be real liberal and marry the gays, It's a new century, so we need new ways. Great ideas guys, this will all work fine, Has your church stepped so out of line?

Today’s second Bible study focuses on Jeremiah 2. This chapter is rich in historical detail and remains spiritually meaningful for believers even in the 21st century. The prophet used numerous symbols to express the spiritual truths that the LORD instructed him to share with Judah. For our study, I will propose ten symbols representing Israel’s spiritual adultery.

Today’s Scripture reading, 2 Chronicles 32 and 2 Kings 21, reminds us that a leader’s character can influence not only his own generation but future ones. 2 Chronicles 32 marks the conclusion of Hezekiah's reign as king of Judah. 2 Kings 21 details the reign of Manasseh, the wicked son and king of Hezekiah.

Our study of Isaiah's prophecies has concluded, and our chronological review of the Scriptures resumes with the Book of Second Kings, chapter 20. The story in 2 Kings 20 will be familiar to “Heart of a Shepherd” readers, as the prophet Isaiah was assigned the task of delivering to Hezekiah the news of the king’s coming death.

#Poetry #Poem WHEN THE DAM BROKE by Bill Kochman 08-16-2024 It will be talked about for many years, Precisely when the dam finally broke, I am referring to that pivotal moment, When on her sins she began to choke. But as I sit here and give it some thot, I think it was in the 50s when it began, There was a shift in attitudes & music, Because the Devil surely had his plan. Like a stubborn weed in one’s garden, A dark spirit of rebellion slowly grew, If you were carefully paying attention, Perhaps you also saw it growing too. Now when rock n roll music appeared, It shocked a more conservative crowd, So unlike the music that was common, It was certainly aggressive and loud. Then along came the king Elvis Presley, And tho they say Elvis hated the name, A person can sometimes truly wonder, If it was his pelvis that gave him fame. Thus it is not very difficult to conclude, That a liberal spirit crept into the land, Sadly, some seventy years later today, That wicked spirit is totally out of hand. Next came the 60s generation & hippies, Who wanted drugs and peace and love, They protested against the government, No more bloody wars or push and shove. But it was also during that generation, That the sexual revolution came to be, One’s personal inhibitions were passé, Those young people wanted to be free. Now as the years continued to progress, The music grew more rebellious & bold, While sexual promiscuity & many drugs, On this country took a strangling hold. But that old serpent still was not happy, Indeed, so greedy, he yet desired more, Abortion, same-sex marriage and trans, Were so carefully advanced to the fore. Thus today we have a divided country, It is split between the red and the blue, So many rebel against God’s holy laws, While His children strive to remain true. Yes, it’s sad to say the dam has broken, And a flood of evil is sweeping us away, There really isn’t much that we can do, Besides get down and desperately pray. But God’s grace may be growing short, How much rebellion should He endure? Sooner or later His judgments will fall, Because America is rotten to the core.
