Join Hillsdale for this Wednesday evening's ministry activities and Bible study.
There is a lot happening this Wednesday evening at Hillsdale, and you are invited to join us for fellowship, activities, and Pastor Smith's practical study of American patriotism on the eve of our nation's 250th birthday celebration.
Tonight's Bible study examines the third Puritan doctrine that shaped the United States' founding as a republic rather than a democracy. So far, we have considered “The Sovereignty of God” and “The Total Depravity of Man.” Tonight’s study is "The Subservience of Government to Divine Authority."
Progressivism and democratic socialism have embedded their ideology in our government and institutions, resulting in the sacrifice of our nation's founding principles and God-given rights. Tonight's class will begin at 6:00 p.m. with an informal time of fellowship, praise, and prayer, followed by the study, which will begin around 6:15 p.m. and be broadcast live at www.HillsdaleBaptist.org.
Hillsdale's summer children's program begins at 6:00 p.m., with check-in at the Lobby Information Desk. Inside/Out Teens kicks off with its activity time at 6:00 p.m. as well.
Reminder to choir members and cast: Practice for this Sunday's patriotic service begins in the auditorium at 6:00 p.m.
See you soon!
With the heart of a shepherd,
Travis D. Smith Senior Pastor
Rebuilding Jerusalem and the Second Coming of Christ (Zechariah 8-9)
Our study of Zechariah's prophecies continues with today’s Scripture reading, Zechariah 8-9. Babylon had destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple; however, the LORD purposed to rebuild his sanctuary and the city. The LORD’s promises must have greatly encouraged the Jews to rebuild the Temple and the city of Jerusalem. The prophecies concerning the coming of the Messiah and His rejection by the Jews are recorded from Zechariah 9:1 to Zechariah 11:17.
The Eighth Vision and Genuine Worship (Zechariah 6-7)
Today’s Scripture reading, Zechariah 6-7, records the eighth and final vision of Zechariah: “Four Horse-Drawn Chariots” (Zechariah 6:1-8). Zechariah 7 records the LORD’s challenge to Israel to re-examine their fasts, turn from their hypocrisy, and worship the LORD sincerely.
“Moses: Crossroads of Faith”
Pastor Smith continues his series in the Book of Hebrews, "Jesus is Greater: Faith in the Supremacy of Jesus Christ," with a sermon titled, "Moses: Crossroads of Faith." Moses is one of the great figures in the Bible and in human history. It is impossible to grasp the profound influence Moses has had, considering humanity’s debt to him for God's Law and Commandments. Yet of Moses we read, "By faith Moses" (Hebrews 11:23-28). Join me this Sunday as we consider once again the doctrine that salvation is by "Faith Alone in Christ Alone."

The Eyes of the LORD are Upon Us (Zechariah 3-4)
https://youtu.be/V3ajE6ZMu68?si=SNB6qiU-pLlmflLm Zechariah 3-4 is today’s Scripture reading and continues the account of Zechariah’s prophetic visions. In Zechariah's fourth vision, Joshua the high priest — representing a spiritually compromised Israel — stands before the LORD, with Satan as his accuser. The chapter concludes with a promise of universal peace and blessing under the Messiah's reign, when every man will rest "under the vine and under the fig tree."
"The Total Depravity of Man" - Puritan Doctrines Shaped America's Founding as a Republic - 06/24/27
This brief study is part 2 of the study on America's history (June 24, 2026), titled "The Tension Between Republican Government and Democratic Government."
This is the second in a series focusing on the three Puritan-Christian doctrines that influenced the men who wrote the United States Constitution of 1787. The first doctrine is the Sovereignty of God. The second doctrine is the Total Depravity of Man.

The Tension Between Republican Government and Democratic Government, June 24, 2026
Pastor Smith continues his study of "America's History and Spiritual Heritage" with this discussion of "The Tension Between Republican Government and Democratic Government" and the influences of the Puritans and Deists on the founding fathers of the United States.
America was established as a Republic; however, the leaders of our nation, particularly the Democratic Party, have been usurping the Constitution and eroding the individual rights of US citizens.
Tears of Joy, Tearful Memories, and Tackling Adversaries (Ezra 4-5)
Our chronological study of the Scriptures continues with today’s reading, Ezra 4-5. Setting aside their interests for the sake of the whole, the children of Israel worked, worshipped, sacrificed, and rejoiced together. Unfortunately, the enemies of Israel began a campaign to discourage the rebuilding of the Temple and accused them of rebellion against the king of Persia.
“By Faith Abraham…Offered Up Isaac” (Hebrews 11:8-19), June 21, 2026
This message was delivered Father's Day Sunday, June 21, 2026, and continues Pastor Smith's series in Hebrews, "Jesus is Greater: Faith in the Supremacy of Jesus Christ" (Hebrews 11:8-19).
This first part of two messages based on the faith of Abraham begins with a review of the definition of faith, considers three prior testimonies of faith, Abel, Enoch, and Noah, and introduces Abraham, a descendant of Shem—Noah’s firstborn son.
Abraham modeled saving faith in that he Obeyed God, Believed God, and Trusted God to fulfill His promise and to do the impossible.

Tears and Trumpets (Ezra 2-3)
Our chronological study of the Scriptures brings us to 2-3. A census was commanded in Ezra 2, and some could not verify their lineage. Others who aspired to be priests but failed to verify their priestly lineage were not allowed to minister. In Ezra 3, the Temple foundation was completed; however, amid the rejoicing.
Israel’s Existence Testifies to God’s Sovereignty (Ezra 1)
Our chronological study of the Scriptures brings us to the Book of Ezra. Today’s reading is from Ezra 1. The setting of our devotional is the fulfillment of the prophecies that the Jews would one day return from captivity and rebuild their lives, homes, and nation. Chapter 1 opens with King Cyrus proclaiming that the God of heaven had moved him to build His Temple in Jerusalem.
The Tribulation, Armageddon, and The End (Daniel 12)
Our study of the Book of Daniel concludes with our second devotional today, based on Daniel 12. The final chapter of Daniel lifts the curtain on the end of the Tribulation period, known as the Great Tribulation.
A Prophetic Perspective on the History of Persia and Greece (Daniel 11)
Today’s Scripture reading is from Daniel 11-12. Daniel 11 describes the rise and fall of Persia as Alexander the Great, king of Greece, led his army to conquer Asia Minor, Syria, Egypt, and the Medo-Persian Empire, reaching as far east as India. Daniel’s vision was fulfilled in exact detail! A second devotional will follow on Daniel 12, concluding our study of the Book of Daniel.
Heavenly Visitors and Hellish Foes (Daniel 10)
This devotional from Daniel 10 is the second of two Bible studies today. Daniel 10 records Daniel’s fourth and final vision. Though Daniel received the vision during Cyrus's reign, it was set far into the future, for “the time appointed was long” (Daniel 10:1b). This devotional reveals the reality of a spiritual conflict between the LORD and His angels and the devil and his demons.

A Vision of Seventy Weeks (Daniel 9)
Today's Scripture reading is Daniel 9-10. This, the first of two Bible studies, is taken from Daniel 9, which records Daniel's third vision and his prayer for Israel — offered as he finds himself serving a new king, 'Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes' (Daniel 9:1).
Four Beasts, Four Kingdoms, and God Who is Sovereign (Daniel 7)
Today’s second devotional comes from Daniel 7. Recalling the image of Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams, we read, “Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters” (Daniel 7:1). As you will see, Daniel’s dream paralleled Nebuchadnezzar’s great image and was a vision of future events culminating in the LORD, who is “the Ancient of days,” sitting in judgment.
