I ordered some earplugs on Amazon that some quick google research said many autistic people found helpful and they came today so I decided to wear them when I went out to dinner with my family to a restaurant which is generally pretty noisy
The difference was honestly amazing like all it did was just cut out the background noise really (without muffling conversation) and for the first time in as long as I can remember I came home not tired??? Like I thought it was more talking to people that tired me out but I guess I didn’t realize how much dealing with background noise bothers me too
Now I like don’t even know what to do with myself bc this is usually the part where I have to lay down and watch something comforting to regain energy wow this is weird but weird in a good way
Shout out to the people who write captions and transcriptions for videos
You're amazing and I deeply appreciate your time and effort

me: ....y es...?
someone: ...you do?
me, sweating: .....................y....yes..??????

Does anyone else have issues with like, someone says something and you immediately forget what they said, even if you repeat them, or like, you hear someone say something but your brain just kinda scrambles it and it’s completely unintelligible...? If words or letters sound similar sometimes I can’t tell the difference or I get them confused and I’m not sure if this is all a combination of my ADHD and Dyslexia or if I have auditory processing problems, who knows....
Hi, I'm having a tough time in school with understanding instruction and was wondering if being able to hear words but not string them together to hear the full message is also a form of apd

I’m sorry you’re struggling! But yes, that’s absolutely down to our auditory processing issues. We can physically hear the words, but aren’t always able to properly process them.
i saw something about watching stuff with subtitles and adhd, and i was wondering if and how these are related?
Yeah, they’re related! People with ADHD have auditory processing difficulties - it takes us longer/it’s a lot harder to process auditory input than Neurotypicals.
( Have a look at the end of this ask )
So we put on subtitles to help with the fact that we can’t always ‘hear’ things - while we are physically hearing it, our brain isn’t processing it in a way that actually lets us understand what they’re saying.
