it's always sad when I see people with psychological disabilities (most often PDs) say things like "i don't feel attraction but i'm trying to" or "i can't love, how do i fix this?"
genuinely, if you don't feel attraction (of any sort! not just sexual), consider that you're A-spec!! being traumatized does not mean you cannot be A-spec, just like it doesn't mean you can't be gay or trans!
the idea that you need to "fix" your attraction to be "mentally healthy" is an anti-LGBT myth, although one that's unfortunately still common in regards to A-spec folks.
and even if you are actually allosexual/-romantic/-platonic and you'll (re)develop attraction as you recover, there is literally no good in forcing yourself to feel it; forcing intimacy is unhealthy, encourages self-loathing when you inevitably don't enjoy it, and leaves you incredibly vulnerable to abuse.
if you're going to feel attraction one day, it'll happen without pressure. if you're not going to experience attraction, no amount of pressure will make it happen. A-spec or not, you've gotta let yourself be in this regard.
Been seeing too many pop-psychology attachment theory posts that demonize avoidant attachment lately, so for the record:
You are not entitled to anyone else's time or affection.
People are allowed to leave you if they do not want a relationship with you.
People do not have to give you a reason that you approve of, or even a reason at all, to leave you if they do not want a relationship with you.
Your own co-dependency issues and attachment to someone else does not trump that person's ability to deny consent.
No-one is obligated to give you attention just because you want them to.
No-one is obligated to stay in a relationship they don't want to be in, even if the other person hasn't done anything wrong.
No-one is obligated to stay in a relationship they don't want to be in, even if the other person is mentally ill.
Attempting to force someone to stay through coercion, guilt tripping, or threats of suicide/self-harm is abusive.
I'll make a post like "I have low empathy and it's a struggle for me in relationships"
And people will respond like "okay but don't be a terrible person or treat people badly"
When I never ever said I did that
Your fucking ableism is showing
