asynchronoushedgehog replied to your post “when asexuality is defined as no sexual attraction outside of sexual...”
there's a theory that being 'turned on' and experiencing attraction are different things. the "sex now" feeling rather than the "sex with that person" feeling.
I’ll take “things the asexual community has known for years, and could have told scientists if anyone wanted to listen to us” for $500, Alex.
(All joking aside, though, this is absolutely a thing. A non-zero number of aces experience this. I don’t know how prevalent it is, but it’s definitely real and you are definitely no less asexual if you get turned on.)

asynchronoushedgehog answered your question:so important news, mutuals: if you are posting...
using the xkit blacklist i can’t see the other tags unless i choose to show the whole post
And see, I can see the other tags - I think because of another extension I have that wraps tags so I can read them all easily without scrolling through.
Oh dear, I haven't been in a lab setting in over a decade... and of course I have to make this relevant to their original story... hmmm, lab partners AU (total lack of science) coming right up!
Arriving in the lab late, Trinity is still pulling all her safety gear on and apologizing. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your note that you needed help with this - and you know, I'm a biologist, not a chemist, why-" She stops cold. "QUINTUS GET THAT AWAY FROM THAT OUTLET RIGHT NOW."
He pauses in mopping up the spill he's already made. "What?"
"YOU ARE CREATING ELECTROCUTION HAZARDS STOP IT." She rushes past him, coat flapping open as she grabs a rag and starts containing the spill inches from the outlet - only to have her brain realize half a second later that something isn't right.
"Um, Trinity - I think you're on fire."
She turns, past Quintus' pointing fingers, to see that her coat had in fact trailed too close to an open burner and is now tentatively being licked by orange flame up one edge. Moving reflexively fast, she strips the only half-donned coat back off, smushing it into the counter with great enthusiasm and a somewhat wild look on her face.
Quintus moves past her and finishes mopping the area she'd started, giving her apologetic and worried glances. "I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have started without help, I just -"
Trinity sighs, checking the coat over to make sure nothing's still smouldering, and pushes her hair out of her face. "What were you even trying to do?"
He looks sheepish. "I didn't really understand the instructions."
"What instructions?"
Giving her a wry look, Quintus pushes the mess of her coat aside, pulling out some singed, soaked, and completely illegible lab routine sheets.
Trinity looks at him, starts shaking her head slowly, and slowly breaks into a giggle, her eyes crinkling around the corners.
Quintus smiles and kisses her forehead. "Next time," he promises, "I'll ask for help first."
"Like they'll ever let you in the lab again," Trinity says under her breath, stepping forward and headbutting his chest slightly as she hugs him. They embrace for a moment, both still occasionally shaking with laughter, then finally she pulls away. "Come on. Let's clean this up."
"And then go do something more suited to our skills?"
