Hi there! Would you be inclined to do gifs from The Ghost Writer? Ewan looked great in that film. Thanks! <3
Ahhh it's such a good idea! He totally does hehe 👀 It's been awhile since i've seen that movie, it's quite gloomy and that ending oof but I'm really interested in giffing Ewan in it 😆

Henry drapes another blanket over Lucas's trembling shoulders, and Lucas's bone-white hands whip out from beneath the pile to clutch at the edges of this one, too. Oh, he's so young—a hair older than Henry had been his first time, but no age is old enough for this. No one is ever old enough to bear the burden of experiencing their own true death and remembering it afterward, nor for the repercussions of it not being the last. "I'm so sorry."
Lucas nods, and tugs the heap of blankets up to his nose, a muffled, quavering, "Thanks, Doc," barely making it through chattering teeth and out of the pile. Henry's heart breaks all over again—he's long lost count of the number of times that has happened today, from the moment Lucas leapt between Hanson and a bullet until now. That it brought his own secret into the light matters little. For now, all he cares about—all anyone cares about—is Lucas.
"Just wanted to help," Lucas says, with a faint, ironic smile, a near-echo of what he said as he bled out beneath Henry's hands. "Just trying to help," words that will linger in Henry's brain for centuries to come. He has far too much experience with words like those, with last words. He'll remember them. And, for better or worse, so will Lucas.
So will Lucas. Lucas is alive. After today, unless Henry finds a solution, Lucas will always be alive. He died a hero...only that wasn't the end of his story. And nothing will ever be the same.
But because of him, Mike Hanson will go home to hug his rambunctious children and kiss his beloved wife. Another good man will keep breathing, and he will go on to rain justice upon the guilty shooter. Hanson's world is different now, too: a little bit stranger than before, yes, but not tarnished by his own death, nor by the loss of a friend and savior.
Henry lays a hand on Lucas's shoulder, though he doubts Lucas can feel it through the thick, thick blankets. "You did help, Lucas," he says, soft and gentle, and Lucas's hint of a smile grows. "You did good."
"Thanks," Lucas says, quietly, ducking his head, and some color finally—finally—appears in his cheeks. He goes silent again, but not for so long this time, thank goodness. "So, uh...eternal life, huh? How does, uh...how does that work, exactly? And, um...it's not all bad, right?"
Some might say it is. Some days, Henry might say it. But even though another man, a friend, now shares his curse, that friend and another are alive. Who wouldn't see that as a victory? A bittersweet victory, yes, but a victory nonetheless. "Correct," Henry replies. "Eternity is difficult, yes, but there are far worse things in the world."
"Cool," Lucas says. "And, hey—now you've got a friend to share it with. So, uh, you won't be alone."
Oh. He hadn't considered that, too busy dwelling on the negatives. Those will sink in for Lucas eventually, inevitably, one day, but just as Henry won't be alone with this curse, Lucas won't, either. "And neither will you."
For the character meme: Peter Burke, naturally :-)
Thanks! I was going to send you the same one, but it’s not showing me the inbox link at the top of your page - guess Tumblr has other ideas. :/
1: sexuality headcanon - I’ve always pictured Peter as at least bi-curious. I have a feeling he experimented in college.
2: otp - On the show, Elizabeth. In fanfic, Neal.
3: brotp - Clinton Jones
4: notp - Selena Thomas from “Veiled Threat” - just no. Run the other way.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - Peter’s dad coached his Little League team, and Peter does the same for his own son.
6: favorite line from this character - There are so many, but the very first one that really cracked me up was, “How many of you went to Harvard? Don’t raise your hands. Don’t.”
7: one way in which I relate to this character - My love of baseball!
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - His total ineptitude when it comes to flirting.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Oh, definitely a cinnamon roll. Wrapped in a badass. ;)
(For this meme.)
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
My current active WIP is Reaching Towards Dawn which is a Hunt for Red October fic about Borodin surviving the movie and him and Ramius falling in love found Here.
Progress is good! My next chapter is finished, probably gonna post that either just past midnight tonight or same time tomorrow because Schedule Reasons. Next chapter is more or less sorted, just needs a couple of sentences I think? It’s a lot shorter than most of the multichapter fics I’ve taken on in the past, and I have a relatively good idea of what happens and when, so I should actually get this one done lol.
I JUST LOVE IT, MAN. It’s been pretty easy to write, it’s in a fandom that has literally 30 works and even though it’s technically like the most popular ship in the tag that’s hardly saying much, and you know I love writing the more unusual stuff. Plus like Vasily Borodin Deserved Better. This movie came out 30 years ago but I only saw it last year, the wound is still fresh.
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
S O M A N Y. To start off with, Memento Vivere was supposed to be a John/Anthony fic but they just refused to co-operate so it’s a gen fic. There are about two/three abandoned plotlines from Reaching Towards Dawn, one of which is probably gonna end up being a spin off at some point. Most of my fics have at least one part I’ve saved elsewhere for possible future use 😅
23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
Lord, there’s a lot of things I think about. There are a bunch of POI concepts I’ve half written, but it’s probably the Avengers ideas that I don’t even have saved on my Google Docs but I swear to heaven and hell that I’ll finish eventually 😅
Crowley did not interfere in each country coming up with their own counting and measuring system (he isn't particulary into Math), but he keeps suggesting to the US to stick to the imperial system while the rest of the world has adopted the much more convenient metric system.
I cannot tell you the domestic disputes the Imperial vs Metric debate has caused (metric is by far the sexier and more intuitive maths to do) and I blame Crowley for it’s entire existence

general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffThe Hogwarts question is tough because obviously he could be a Gryffindor as well, but I think he leans more Ravenclaw because he’s really, really into the puzzle-solving thing, probably more than the saving-people thing. School-age Peter would definitely have been a Ravenclaw (he’s a math major, after all!)
best quality: That decency/compassion basically wins over everything else for him. He’s definitely Lawful Good, but when it comes down to a conflict between those two things, the “good” part trumps the “lawful” part.worst quality: The fandom isn’t completely wrong that he can be inflexible, stubborn, and a little too set on being right. (Just not to the extent that he often is in fic.) The people he’s close to (Elizabeth, Neal, Diana) tend to be people who don’t hesitate to push back when he’s being a little too stubborn. He seems to enjoy that.ship them with: Elizabeth; also Neal a little bit. brotp them with: Neal (of course!). Diana too, and also Mozzie later in the series.needs to stay away from: Kramer. He’s a terrible influence! At least Peter realizes that, eventually.misc. thoughts: I was genuinely thinking about taking off the last two options on the opinion/hotness polls because I didn’t think I’d get any that would qualify, so of course this comes along first. XD Apparently I still have a lot of feelings on Peter Burke.
Thanks Ara :))) Sorry for this belated reply. I’ll answer John’s later (hopefully within this week lol. Here’s Kara’s!
Kara
How I feel about this character
I fear her, but she’s also very enjoyable to watch. She’s manipulative with a firm belief that she’s right, and sometimes for a moment we’d believe that maybe she is. I think Kara is an excellent villain material. In some other stories, maybe those told from the CIA or similar group’s pov, whose premises are it’s okay to kill one to save a million, she’d be the hero in those stories, just a bit reckless.
I also think she’s the kind of character who knows what she’s doing. She has some of the best-written power playing scenes/lines in the show imo. The whole scene of her first meeting with John is so good I can imagine how she plans all that the moment she knows she’s appointed with a new partner. Each line she gives has a purpose behind it. She’s that collected and needy in control. Same with the revealing of she walking out of the closet in the hotel, the whole sequence plus the music and John’s quote “The problem with trying to be the bad guy is there’s always someone worse” is A++++, Kara in a nutshell.
But at the same time, she isn’t manic or just hurting people for hurt’s sake imo. She does care about her partner or whoever works with her when they’re working for the same aim. Of course, if there’s an order, she’ll kill whoever even once her partner without a second thought, but she’s also the one who says “We understand,” when they’re given the Ordos mission and John being disobedient to Mark. I know it can be interpreted as she dismisses John’s wish, but at then she doesn’t know why John wants to refuse the mission. And idk why I have such a soft spot for her in that scene, my first instinct is that she tries to soften the situation because there’s no way Mark’ll allow John a leave and to her John’s being “stupid” again for giving Mark an excuse to pick on him/them later. Weirdly, it’s her way to look after a partner in her team, before someone tells her the partner is compromised and now a threat to the country, of course.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Jessica <3<3<3<3<3
Yeah, you might already know. It’s such a rare pair, but I’ve gone too far to go back lol.
Apart from Jessica, I think conceptually Kara/Mark has potential, too. Especially considering the sceneriao where Mark has been Kara’s handler for a while before Kara has John as a partner. And Mark sees all the act Kara does to try to control John including the sex (yeah to be the whole part between Kara and John in Paris is all about control and later, control and pressure release if their sexual relationship continues) And then the government wants Kara and John dead, so Mark gives the order because it’s his job and also because of his jealousy, and then, well, she doesn’t die, and she’s back to average whoever does this to her. So angst and fucked-up but yeah… I think there’s potential. :p
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I have no idea actually. Not sure if it counts as non-romantic OTP but I do always hope in some life her relationship with John can develop into a better partnership, not perfect of course, but not that fucked-up, either.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Kara is reckless, but she’s not crazy or a pure sadist. The reason why she’s reckless, imo, is that she doesn’t care about which mean she applies to reach her aim, so if torturing a guy to almost death can reach the aim she’ll do it. She might enjoy the torture process when she’s doing her job, but it’s like a side benefit and not the primary purpose. And her “setting” is to do whatever things to get the primary purpose done, so at least to me, some behaviors of her that shows she enjoying hurting people too much that it gets in the way for her to finish the job doesn’t make sense to me. Also, as I say, I feel she’s a very collected person. So personally, it looks more like she as a character takes all the shadows to be a mirror opposite to the CIA!John, which is a good way of writing in a sense because it can show how John’s CIA career might be like without darkening the main character too much for our liking, but I’m just not convinced Kara can survive her career this long if she always acts that crazy.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon.
That she didn’t die, probably. I really think she’s a good villain material. Also, although I never believe she’ll want to work for someone like Greer, I can be convinced that she works for Greer shortly to get the name. After that, she might work for SAM, since SAM shares the “kill this bad guy, so the world is safer who needs trial anyway we have ASI” value similar to the CIA. There could be a great parallel between her loyalty lies in distrust in individual and John’s lies in trusting a good man after years of being mistreated by people claiming his trust, too. BUT I’M AT CONFLICT! I’m still a bit disappointed about how Peter Collier’s character and his motivation are taken over and cheapened by the writing choice that Greer’s the one main boss behind it. Maybe it’s still better for Kara to die in the car bomb instead of the ending where it turns out she’s just a puppet, and she does all the thing for SAM just because Greer is too good at manipulating.
