Susan Ivanova: Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future and it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for one another, because if we don’t, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope, that there can always be new beginnings. Even for people like us.
Hey! This is an extremely long shot, but I saw over on Dreamwidth that you've been reading Dick Francis, and it reminded me that there's one, the title of which I've forgotten, which I've been looking for for years. (I'm pretty sure it isn't the one called Longshot, although that would be funny.) I thought it was just possible it might be one of the ones you've read? The only scene I clearly remember featured someone dangling over a height and the protagonist collecting coats to place beneath them to cushion the landing. No worries if you don't know it, but at this point my only other chance is to read all of the books until I find it again. :)
I absolutely do not remember this AT ALL, I'm sorry! (Though I find when I reread Dick Francis books I've read before that I often forget a lot of the weird/zany/quirky little details that he tends to throw in. So it's possible I did actually read this, or maybe it's in one of his books I haven't gotten to yet.)
But I'm posting it in the hopes that someone else might know!
@peregrineroad (and anyone else who is curious) we have an answer, provided by a friend who's not on Tumblr! The book you're looking for is is Bolt (1986), one of his Kit Fielding books.
(I am entirely confident I've read the Kit Fielding series and I also continue to have no memory of this at all, so my Dick Francis detail-related memory hole continues to be in full effect.)

sex position: you, sitting on your throne. me, standing behind you, resting my arm on the back of your throne and sniling so sneetly at your ministers like i have any right to be there

Babylon 5 Season One fanvid - Starting Over
One thing this fandom really doesn't seem to have are new-viewer-friendly vids, so I decided to make one! This vid has clips only from season one, with no major spoilers.

Re-creating my first webcomic from 12 years ago, "Hair Expectations vs Reality."
I can't help but feel all kinds of emotions after re-visiting the original comic: the one that started it all. A lot has changed since then, and I feel so fortunate to still create art and tell stories for a living. Thanks for your support, and sticking around for so long ❤️
Check out the other versions:

People you want to get to know better meme
At least one person tagged me in this while I was on vacation, unfortunately I can't swear to which people because it's buried in other notifs, but thank you for the tag!
last song: Enter Sandman by Metallica, lol, because it's great housework music.
currently watching: Widow's Bay and Slow Horses, both of which are going slooooooooooowly
current obsession: Babylon 5 and Biggles, still
currently reading: I just finished a couple of Dick Francis books on vacation, posted about here on Dreamwidth. Next up is probably one of my various writing how-to books.
currently working on: well, I just posted a B5 fic, and I'm hoping to write treats for Id Pro Quo before it reveals (finally!) on the 28th, and vaguely plotnoodling on my next shifter romance novel (the day job).
last google search: "stone fox", because I had seen it mentioned as the name of a book and was pretty sure I'd read it as a kid and googled it to remind myself what it was. (Actually, having read a brief summary of the plot, I don't think I read the book, I think I saw some sort of made-for-TV Disney movie based on it.)

Do I actually want to write this fanfic or do I just want to wallow in the delicious daydream like a pig in the mud?
Unfortunately I wish for others to wallow in my magnificent mud pit
thank you for the magnificent mud pits, fanfic writers

Wroclaw, Poland (by Anna)
I've spent the last week without wifi, experiencing The Sea. This wasn't the only place I was - technically I was traveling for my cousin's wedding, but I also had some time in a beach house for a birthday splurge, although my actual bday isn't for a week. Lots of lonely beach and quiet time, especially with the lack of internet, probably the longest I've spent offline for a number of years.
(Technically I had my phone, but my data plan is pretty limited and cell service was also a bit unreliable.)
I don't know what was up with this giant wooden cross near the beach house (right) that I was staying at. It looked older than anything else on the property. A monument to shipwrecked sailors? A historical grave marker? A random wooden cross put up by evangelicals in 1985? THE MYSTERY DEEPENS. It did make some nice moody photos framed against the sky, though.
