The One-Shot History of Marvels Comics was published with a cover date of July 2000. The issue was about the comic company Marvel that existed on Earth 616. Besides Marvel Universe regulars it also featured the in-world comic Purple Pig Comics (introduced in Iron Man 72) and appearances of Earth-20007 and Earth-600001. Superman was released on July 11, 2025. July 11th was chosen as it was also the birthday of James Gunn's father, whose death was a large influence on the script. The movie, the first theatrical picture of the relaunched DCU taken over by James Gunn, was under fire even before the film was released. One group attacking it was the Snyderverse fans that attacked anything not a part of the Snyderverse and hoped to some how restore the killed franchise. The other group was right wing influencers who attacked the film as being Woke. Iconic Superman actor Christopher Reeve's youngest son made a cameo as a reporter. Smallville's Lex Luther actor Michael Rosenbaum played one of the Raptors in the film. The movie marked the first theatric live action appearances of Mr Terrific , Hawkgirl, Krypto, Cat Grant, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, Ultraman, Kryptonian Robots, and the Engineer. The character Otis Berg was named after Lex Luther's henchman's proposed location in Superman (1978). The film featured David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Mikaela Hoover (Cat Grant), Beck Bennett (Steve Lombard), Michael Ian Black (Clovis Thornwaite), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Pa Kent), Neva Howell (Ma Kent), Michael Rooker (Robot 1), Alan Tudyk (Gary), Bradley Cooper (Jor-El), Angela Sarafyan (Lara), Nicholas Hault (Lex Luthor), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Maria Gabriela de Faria (the Engineer), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr), Edi Gathegi (Mr Terrific), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardener), and Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl). Deadpool vol 2 42 was published with a cover date of July 2000. The cover was an homage to G.I. Joe 21, the iconic "Silent Interlude". The issue introduced Professor M Paynes and Professor G Lewis, created by Glenn Herdling and Jim Calafiore. In the issue the merc-with-a-mouth lost his gift of gab. The first episode of the webseries Lobo was dropped in July 2000. It introduced Sunny Jim and Darlene, created John P McCann. The episode was about Lobo making a bet with Sunny Jim over who could sleep with Darlene first. Sunny Jim gassed her and took her to his ship. The anthology Tales to Astonish 21 was published with a cover date of July 1961. It was the first of the series to add MC to cover. In later reprints of the story "It Happened on the The Silent Screen", Hulk's name was changed to Glop. Besides original material there was also a story reprinted from Journey Into Unknown Worlds 35. The first issue of the limited series Legend of the Hawkman was published with a cover date of July 2000. The issue introduced Thasaro, Dina Mitrani, Hol (and death), Jonathan Tann, and Stephen Wallis, created by Ben Raab and Michael Lark. The series took place in the Pre-Crisis Earth One. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was published on July 8, 1999. It was the third book in the Harry Potter series. The book was dedicated to Rolling's former flatmates in Portugal Jill Prewett and Aine Kiely. It was Harry's third year at Hogwarts. He turned 13 on July 30, 1993. Hogwarts was placed under the protection of the Dementors due to the escape of Sirius Black from Azkaban. Besides Black and the Dementors, the book also introduced Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Hippogriffs, the Marauder's Map and the Time Turner.
