You know? I agree with the idea of the tumblr experience of despise the viral content, however; as a person that every post is thrown to the void, I really wish to have a little more interaction in this post in particular.
I want everyone that can and want to see this post to make an exercise with me.
Go to tiktok, youtube shorts or the equivalents on Instagram and Facebook and scroll.
Scroll until you see an anti woke, anti feminist, anti trans, etc. For me it was just 6 videos before a video with the same format called like "Man shuts up woke female leftist" or the girl that looks like she's Ben Shapiro's daughter overreacting to something stupid or those alpha male dudes with their podcast surround of women.
Besides of the fact that just six videos to see that is a really small number, I haven't found a single way to stop that to show to me.
In a completely different thing but similar for the same problem is that I am not a fan of Taylor Swift, I respect her music and her fans but I don't really care about her. But since she announce that she's coming to Canada my instagram has been swallow by posts about her and her concerts. It keeps showing me even posts of people I don't follow about her. And I have blocked her name and everything else in there but she is still the 100% of stuff showing in my instagram. Which is weird because I only use instagram to see posts of my family, which none of them are fans of her.
The algorithm is a problem. It doesn't care about personal interests only in one tracks more numbers and that is what shows.
Even in how we recognize how broken tumblr is; tumblr is the only place where we still can curate our own content.
That's why every tumblr user keeps going against your changes @staff about going to an algorithm.
We are our own algorithm. And is the only social media that allows that(that I am aware for now)
Right wing and conservatism content are things that are popular, that's something we have to recognize, but we have the opportunity to control that so we don't see it.
And every change you guys does like the layout just tell us you are gonna broke the systems to allow things like that.
I am pretty sure there's right wing content on tumblr, but I can control and prevent myself to see it.
Not sure in a place where the majority of the users are queers or people affected by right wing and conservative propaganda the idea of implement algorithm structure that allows that rhetoric to show up is a well decision.
And every step you take just tell me you are going in that direction.
Fucking hell the internet is falling apart and it's all AI & Algorithm's fault.
