Noctis is... confused. Having more blood related family has always been a secret wish of his, though he has always hoped/dreaded it would be a sibling or a child of his own. Never has he considered he might have an uncle. (Oh Astrals, his dad has a siblig!)

Noctis might or moght not be panicking. Just a bit.

When Regis tells him about his uncle - his uncle - he also tells him about the paperwork. Regis has known for years about his sibling. Noctis is angry about only being told now, but he also understands. His dad thought Vitale might be dead after the attack on Galahd. (Noctis needs to start learning their language ASAP. What was it called again?)

It's Prompto who points out that Vitale might actually not like that name since, you know, the guy didn't know about this either and went by another name all his life. Noctis feels stupid.

Two days after he learns about Vit- Nyx, his patience snaps (he's just so curious, okay?) and he walks into the Glaive living quarters in Little Galahd. It's not too difficult to figure out in which apartment Nyx Ulric lives. Even though he gets some strange looks from the other tenants.

Nyx is... nothing like he expects. Nothing about the man is Lucian. Nothing but the strong traces of the Lucis Caelum line he carries in the features of his face. His eyes are Crystal blue - an indication that he has a strong connection to his magic.

Noctis mumbles a greeting and Nyx sighs and lets him in. The apartment is cheap and worn down but clean. Noctis thinks those who actively fight in the war deserve better.

It's awkward. Their first meeting. Neither has a clue what to do with the other. But Noctis makes it a point to call his uncle Nyx. It makes the older relax.

Your blog has special place in my heart, I love how you write Filli and all the LOTR characters that were part of my childhood. You gave them part of yourself, that made them unique from other autors. For that I thank you with my whole heart!

I just wanted to say that you are a human. You deserve breaks! You have also other things to do than Tumblr. (job, school, other hobbies, ..) And that is completely and utterly normal. If you don´t feel like writing or muse is being silent that is absolutely okay. I firmly believe that any form of art should be enjoyed. Not only as a consumer but also and that is I believe even more important as a creator.

So please, take your time, however much you need. Enjoy the process of creating, I would gladly wait 1000 years If it meant that you would write something while you truly put your heart into it and was happy.

I do apologise that this ask is little bit longer than I anticipated. But I needed to take it off my chest.

This is not a silly ask at all!

Galahkari do indeed have courting practices. I have already written a bit about it on here, but it's been years, so the posts are buried deep, I suppose.

If a Galahkar is interested in another one, they serve the other party their limeschti. The traditional welcoming tea. Each Clan has a different recipe.

It's to say "You are welcome in my life, will you consider staying?"

To accept, the tea is drunk. To decline, you push the tea cup away from you towards the other party. There are no traditional words needed, but it's considered polite form to also verbally decline (maybe with a reason for it).

If the invitation is accepted, the two parties go on public outings together. Festivals, holidays, storytellings, dances. The whole nine yards.

During that time (time span varies from couple to couple) they can start to give each other small gifts. Those gifts come in different stages.

The first gifts are to introduce yourself. Mostly these gifts are things that have to do with the gift giver's occupation. An Ostium might gift self made alcohol or other drinks. Arras tend to write poems. Ulrics gift things made from leather.

After that come gifts that are supposed to show how much you appreciate your partner. Things they might like. Basically, the longer this stage of courting lasts, the more personal the gifts get.

The next stage is going on trips together/going hunting. The intend is to spend a prolonged time alone together without (too many) distractions, to see if this relationship can last.

Afterwards you officially introduce yourself to your partner's Clan Head. Their blessing isn't needed for the courting to proceed, but proceeding without it is like eloping in the eyes of the Galahkari.

Lastly there is the Hunting Trophy. Presenting it to your partner is the official proposal to marry. If the other party agrees, they take the trophy and craft an answering gift. (In Heart of Thunder the coeurl pelt Cor gave Nyx was the Hunting Trophy and the necklace was Nyx's answering gift of acceptance.)

3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

It's evolved recently. I only write on the weekends now, for starters. Before, I could only write first thing in the morning. I feel like that's when I'm most focused and I have the energy for it.

Now, it's a busy time of year so I am too scatterbrained in the morning. So I've started writing in the evening. I spend much of the day doing small things around my apartment or playing games. After I've taken a shower, I start writing.

Once I've forced myself to sit down and write a few sentences, I start hyperfocusing. It's very difficult to stop in the middle of a scene because then I lose the momentum and the vibe. It's not the same when I return to it. And I'm much slower at writing than I want to be. I spend a lot of time staring at the screen. Time flies and I write very little.

One time years ago, on Valentine's Day, I spent a whole day writing a very long chapter about a ball. I worked from morning until 10:30PM. I did take a break at one point to take a nap, and have a very surreal dream. The whole day was weird. That chapter is now two separate chapters.
