12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

hmm i know there are a lot but i’m struggling to think of too many. i’m definitely less anti-omegaverse than i used to be; i wouldn’t say i like it overall but there are specific scenarios/characterizations in which i enjoy it! also age gap—i’m still a bit conservative with it/don’t enjoy the really big ones but my tolerance has def gone up.

23. What's a trope, AU, or concept you've never written, but would like to?

ooh this is a fun one! i think i’d like to write childhood friends to lovers? i looove reading it but i’ve never written it properly. arguably Not a Crush is in fact childhood friends to lovers but it skips over the “childhood friends” part and goes straight to right before they get together. i’d also quite like to write wolfstar as parents together; i’ve had them as single parents/guardians to teddy or harry before but never them having a baby together. maybe marriage of convenience could be fun too…i could go on forever haha there’s so so many things i want to write!

🍣 What helps you focus or get in the mood to write?

I'm afflicted by both brain fog and distractibility so I have to write in a quiet, comfortable, distraction-free environment. This unfortunately means no mood music ☹️ but does result in improved focus and longer writing duration 🙂

In terms of getting in the mood/having the urge, I especially like to write as a reward after I've completed a small/boring/necessary administrative or much-delayed adulting task, as that means I've earned the indulgence of avoiding real life for a little while without having to set an arbitrary time limit on it. I keep trying to remember how good that feeling of reward is, because more often than not I'll "just write for 5 minutes to wake my brain up to prepare for the task", and then end up procrastinating (again) on said task because it's rarely, if ever, 'just 5 minutes' 😜

When I'm stuck on something, or I think I'm not in the mood to write or I don't have any inspiration, often simply opening a doc and scanning through what I've already got is enough to get me fired up and at least editing, or maybe even adding whole sections in. Even if all I do is rejig a couple of sentences that can be enough to gain some satisfaction and persuade me that all is not lost LOL

8. What song would make a great fic (to either write or read)?

so for some reason every time i hear The Magic by The Aces my immediate thought is it would make such an amazing sapphic wolfstar fic! i don’t really have any interest in writing sapphic wolfstar myself but i love reading them so this would def be one i’d want to read

26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?

well my wip is at 30k and only 9% dialogue so…i think no dialogue 😂 i really enjoy writing remus’s internal monologue and fun descriptions of things that don’t get spoken out loud.

41. Link a fic that made you think, “Wow, I want to write like that.”

i feel like i need to start keeping a list of these because there are so many but whenever i get asked i forget them all! but i definitely feel this way about the end of the world (as i know it) by @foxesandsharks! it’s about remus getting diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in his twenties. the emotions are so raw and visceral, and the relationships between the characters feel so real and complex. the author also writes such beautiful metaphors, it’s all just…so so lovely. i’m a chapter or two behind on it and i definitely need to catch up soon!

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

I've written a lot of fics over the years that I'm proud of, honestly. And it's a lot easier to look back and be proud of older fics because new ones haven't had time to marinate in my brain yet.

One I'm still especially proud of is probably None of Us are More than Caretakers, my "missing episode" between Last Hurrah and Institutional Memory in TWW. I wrote the whole thing in six weeks!

🔹 WHAT’S A SMALL GAME DETAIL THAT YOU ALWAYS NOTICE AND LOVE?

The music. My first love is music, and I will always get swept away by a particularly gorgeous soundtrack. The Origins soundtrack was top-tier; then they gave us The Dawn Will Come in Inquisition. It unfortunately set me up for disappointment with Veilguard, but that is a rant for another day.

I will always enjoy a game more when the music is banging.

I love Matt Rhodes' art. Anything I can find of his always seems to pique my interest and start something buzzing in my brain. There's some of the potential art of Calpurnia as a Veilguard companion that made me particularly feral.

She was trying and failing to untangle the matted braid of hair with her one useful hand. “I should have asked for help unwinding this before I got in,” she grumbled, as her fingers did little to budge the hair. “You may be better off cutting it,” Anders suggested. “Not an option.” Her answer was coarse, nearly slapping him across the face with the directness. “I didn’t realize you were quite so vain.” “It’s not vanity,” she protested, but he could see the warmth in her face. “Maker, it’s Howe?” he sighed, rolling his eyes dramatically, to ensure she knew just how ridiculous he found this to be. “Do you not have parts of your appearance you keep up to please your Hawke?” she asked, giving up and tossing the braid back over her shoulder. There had been a discussion, when they’d first run from Kirkwall, about Anders cutting his hair. Hawke had argued fervently that a blonde man would be noticed regardless of the length of his hair. It was when Anders suggested he shave his head bald that Hawke had caved and said he couldn’t imagine his lover without the beautiful strawberry blonde locks he was known for. “Of course not,” he lied. “Hawke is more pragmatic than that.” “I’ve known Hawke long enough now to realize there’s nothing pragmatic about that man when it comes to you,” she laughed, before dipping her head below the surface and fully submerging in the water. Anders snorted in amusement, annoyed at her perception. Some things never did change, despite the years.

I'm excited to finish a rewrite of a BG3 fic that I've been slowly chipping away at. Hoping to have Shifted 2.0 up sometime by winter or maybe next January. Is that soon? Maybe not, but in my mind not really.

Aside from Alistair being a girl dad... Probably that Nathaniel Howe secretly has a praise kink. He loves being a good boy, but would never want anyone aside from Zukal to know about it.

In another life, I was a music teacher and a classical mezzo-soprano. I still sing with a local choir, mostly doing masterworks of newer and classic composers. Singing hard music is my favorite "exercise."
