So I was reading about early medieval lyres and learned that there was one perfectly preserved lyre found in Germany which they managed to preserve in alcohol in Berlin. I got super hyped about it, hoping to see a picture or which museum collection holds it.
Turns out the lyre was destroyed in the Second World War when Russian soldiers DRANK the alcohol.

17 hand-made musical instruments covering a period ranging from the 8th to the 3rd centuries B.C.
A new exhibit featuring exact replicas of ancient Greek musical instruments - such as the lyre, homeric phorminx, kithara and aulos - will be hosted by the Museum of Ancient Nikopolis near Preveza, western Greece until November 20, ANA reports.
The temporary exhibition covers a period ranging from the 8th to the 3rd centuries B.C. and focuses on 17 hand-made musical instruments made by Giorgos Polyzos between 1984 and 2004 on behalf of the Athens University student society "Evretirio".
The instruments represent the three major categories of ancient musical instruments that are known - stringed (cordophones), wind (aerophones) and percussion (membranophones) - and are accompanied by additional information on their history, evolution, use and their role in ancient societies.
