βIt is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon menβs hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.β

My hot take is most of the βclimate changeβ people experience first-hand is just deforestation and improper use of urban forestry.
When I was in college in Florida things got hot all the time. But it was manageable, especially when I went on a walk through the woods. There was sizable state park a small drive away where you could literally FEEL the drop in temperature upon entering it- it was perfect for a summers day.
Right near where I lived there was a small unmanaged forest on a plot of land for sale. It was there for four years. A few months before I left, they cut that forest down to build some businesses. Within a few days of them cutting those trees down, I went from being able to walk to the gas station next to that forested area to it being so hot I thought I might pass out from heat exhaustion.
Plant more trees. Take care of our forests. Plan cities around good urban forestry. Concrete will bake you alive.
