Beware the Ides of March
A call for papers for postgraduates for the ICS Work in Progress Seminar. Speakers will give a paper of about 45 minutes’ duration, dealing with any subject connected with the ancient world (broadly defined), the reception of antiquity, or classical scholarship. Abstract should be 300 words, a working title for the paper, your preferred term, and your attendance preference (online, in person). We are also accepting panel sessions of two coordinated papers. These sessions consist of two closely related 25-minute papers. Submissions for coordinated panels should include two abstracts of around 200 words each and an overview of the panel of around 100 words. Submissions should be directed to the seminar’s joint chairs at [email protected].

Hello, all! I just wanted to bring your attention to Queering the Past(s)! (https://classicalassociation.org/queering-the-past/) It's an interactive online resource that addresses LGBTQ+ subjects and the gaps in education about them. This is an ongoing project, as the online resource continues to grow, and more chapters and other guides are in the works. The two current chapters that are up are Sappho and Elagabalus, as well as a Teacher's Guide. If you're a teacher focusing on the ancient world and would like to incorporate any of the information into your curriculum, please check it out! Summer has been weird...
This entire summer has been really odd, and I've been neglecting a lot of things beyond just my tumblr because Life Keeps Happening back home. Since I moved to Scotland, I've had quite a few things happening with family and friends, and now with Twitter (I'm not calling it its new 'name') being on fire, I'll probably be here more often.
Anyway, I'm moving right along with my PhD work, and about to enter my 2nd year with it. I'm working hard on my current chapter, and waiting to hear back from some conferences I've submitted abstracts to. Anyway, I'm gonna try to here more often and getting more content out there in general.
Things happening next week:
On Monday, I am giving a lecture about Classics at my school.
On Wednesday, I am leading a trip to the British Museum.
On Friday, I have an interview for a job that's less than 20 minutes from where I live.
