pregnant flambert where Flambae throws up almost every day but he's not even the one who's pregnant. He's just filled with sickening anxiety at the thought of being a father vs Robert who can and will continue to pilot a giant mech while 6 months preggers
"Is this truly necessary? I have plenty of big loose shirts at ho--"
"My Omega is NOT gonna be seen wearing fucking rags, Bob Bob!!" Chad growls low, but Robert knows it's one fit away from yelling. "Especially not while you're caring MY PUPS! Are you insane?! It's bad enough I let you get away with it while we were courting. Do you have any idea how badly I wanted to take you shopping when I first saw you outside of work?!" Chad huffs as he holds up another fancy shirt, covered in embroidery and a silk lining.
iâm writing/outlining a Dispatch omegaverse fic bc i do what i want. anyway, Omega!Robert would have ABYSMAL nesting skills, and Flambae would roast him abt it when he sees the sad pile of blankets on the ground. what would he say precisely tho? all i can think of is âdamn bitch, you live like this?â and while iconic, feels too generic for the situation.
Yearning for warm embraces
Hello again! :D After the small story about Robert and Flambae was so well received in such a short amount of time I decided to write about their coming to be. Here is a small sneak peak. You can read the rest on AO3 if you want. I tweaked it a bit so not to take the story away. Thanks so much and enjoy! <3 _______________________

Chapter One: Nightmares
Fire.Â
Too close. Too bright.Â
The Mechâs sensors screamed HEAT CRITICALâthen blinked green.Â
Stable.Â
Then the alarms returned, louder, overlapping, voices talking over each other until Robert couldnât tell which one mattered. His hands flew across the controls anyway. Â
Muscle memory. Â
Like he was trained to do. Â
He typed faster, sweat building under his Mask, the heat almost unbearable.Â
The screen lagged.Â
Each command appeared seconds late, as if the Mech were resisting him. As if it didnât want to move.Â
âRespond,â Robert hissed, slamming his palm against the console.Â
The flames pressed in. They werenât crackling anymore. They were silent. Fire wasnât supposed to be silent. He knew what was about to happen.Â
It still happened wrong.Â
Smoke filled the cockpit, thick and choking, yet the oxygen meter still read full. The Mech didnât show that he was suffocating. Â
He dragged in a breath and tasted ash.Â
His opponent loomed closer, heat warping the air. Â
Too close. Â
The shield warnings stacked on top of each other, red over red over red, until the display blurred.Â
Robert didnât retreat. Â
He couldnât. Â
The mall was already collapsing around them, rubble floating instead of falling, hanging in the air like it had forgotten gravity. Â
The flame-engulfed figure was closing in, its hands outstretched.Â
Robert didnât hesitate.Â
He lunged.Â
The plasma sword hummed and then screamed.Â
Two fingers fell away, hitting the ground in slow motion.Â
The scream came late, stretching, warping, turning into something not human at all.Â
He felt like he was falling.Â
Like he wasnât inside the Mech anymore.Â
Like there was nothing holding him at all.Â
Like the ground was swallowing him whole.Â
Surrounding him in flames, smoke and ash.Â
Then it all went black.Â
-Â
He opened his eyes.Â
The fire was gone.Â
Now instead of fire, he saw familiar faces, that didnât look familiar at all at the same time.Â
Those were the villains of Torrance.Â
Their faces were blurred.Â
Too many. Too close.Â
They circled the Mech as it staggered beneath their blows. Â
Metal shrieked. Systems failed in uneven bursts, damage reports flickering too fast to read. Robertâs gaze jumped from screen to screen, fingers moving on instinct.Â
Muscle memory.Â
Calm hands.Â
A panicking heart.Â
Cracks webbed across the armor. Each one felt personal. Like watching his fatherâs work split apart in front of him. Like failing him all over again.Â
Not like this.Â
He wouldnât go down like this. He wouldnât freeze. He wouldnât falter.Â
Retreat was an option.Â
He knew that.Â
The Mech lurchedâand suddenly the ground was gone.Â
Outside.Â
The city rushed up to meet him as the last of the power drained away. Warning lights dimmed one by one, their voices thinning, stretching, slowing.Â
FOREIGN OBJEKT DETECTED.Â
One system screamed back to life.Â
The warning came too late.Â
The explosion came without sound.Â
Light swallowed everything.Â
Then smoke.Â
Thick. Heavy. Pressing in from all sides.Â
Robert tried to scream.Â
Nothing came out.Â
Below him, Mech Suit plummeted toward the ground, falling too fast, parts twisting and groaning, shrinking, vanishing into the haze.Â
He was falling too.Â
No weight. No armor. No Mech.Â
Just him.Â
His vision tunneled. The world dimmed at the edges, darkness creeping inward like something alive.Â
Heavy.Â
So heavy.Â
He let it take him.Â
âÂ
Robert startled awake.Â
His breath tore from his chest in sharp, uneven gasps. His hand flew to the collar around his neck.Â
Too tight.Â
He clawed at it, sucking in air that wouldnât come fast enough. The room swam, edges blurring, tilting.Â
Not falling. No smoke. No fire.Â
A soft whine cut through the panic.Â
Beef stood at his feet, ears pinned back, brown eyes wide with worry. Robert folded forward and scooped the dog into his arms, clutching him like an anchor.Â
Warm. Solid. Real.Â
Beef licked his cheek, tail wagging hesitantly.Â
Robertâs breathing stuttered, then slowed. His chest still hurt. His heart still hammered.Â
âItâs okay,â he murmured. âThanks, Beef.âÂ
The dog yapped softly.Â
Robert leaned back, eyes closed.Â
Nightmares werenât new.Â
But they were never this vivid.Â
Never this alive.Â
---Â
It took a while before his breathing evened out.Â
Beef had curled up on his lap at some point, warm and solid, softly snoring as his tongue slipped out between tiny huffs of breath. Robert rested his head back, eyes closed, and let himself feel the weight of the dog.Â
The sweat still clung to him.Â
Cold now. Uncomfortable. Real.Â
He lifted one hand and covered his eyes, lashes damp, vision still buzzing faintly from the dream. When his hand dropped, it driftedâslow, unconsciousâto his collar.Â
The collar.Â
His fatherâs work.Â
The only one of its kind.Â
Robert swallowed.Â
It hid his scent. Shielded his glands. Made sure no one ever knew what he was. A perfect solution to an inconvenient truth.Â
Omega.Â
The word tasted bitter.Â
His father had never said it kindly. Never said it loudly either. Heâd spoken about it like a flaw in a design something to be corrected before it ruined the whole structure.Â
Suppressants had appeared in his life soon after. Birth control, too. Always there. Always non-negotiable.Â
Thirteen.Â
Too young to understand what was happening. Old enough to learn not to fight when the pills were forced into his mouth. Easier to swallow than to argue.Â
He learned to just take them when offered. Always like clockwork.Â
His heats never came right after that. They arrived without warning, his body misfiring, confused by chemicals and fear.Â
The first one had dropped him to the bathroom floor, cold tile against his cheek, fever burning through him. Track Starâs  hands, shaking but steady, holding his own. Â
Track Star staying.Â
 Track Star not letting go.Â
He should write him.Â
After the coma⌠he hadnât.Â
Three months.Â
Robert exhaled slowly.Â
He needed a shower.Â
Carefully, he shifted Beef onto the bedâmemory foam, softer than anything he ever bought for himself. The dog barely stirred, tail giving a sleepy wag.Â
Beef deserved the best.Â
Robert didnât.Â
You donât deserve it.Â
His fatherâs voice cut sharp and familiar through his thoughts. Robert shook his head, forcing it away.Â
The bathroom was small and next to the bedroom that wasnât used. Boxes still sat unopened in the corner like theyâd been forgotten on purpose. He peeled off his clothes, tossing them into the laundry basket without looking.Â
Future Robert could deal with that.Â
The water was warm. He stood beneath it longer than necessary, shoulders slumped as it traced the lines of his bodyâburns, scars, old wounds layered over older ones. Fifteen years as Mecha Men. Â Â Fifteen years of surviving.Â
Fifteen years of hiding his second gender. Â
No one ever questioned him.Â
In the eyes of the public he was a Beta.Â
He shut the water off eventually, dried, dressed in an old blue shirt and fresh underwear. The lawn chair creaked as he collapsed into it again, muscles protesting the cheap plastic.Â
His phone lit up the room.Â
2:35 AM.Â
âGreat,â he muttered.Â
His thumb hovered over his contacts.Â
Track Star.Â
What would he even say?Â
Hey, sorry I disappeared I was in a coma and been awake for three months! Hope youâre good.Â
Yeah. No.Â
The screen blurred as he stared.Â
Then it rang.Â
Robert blinked.Â
Track Starâs name flashed across the display.Â
Once.Â
Twice.Â
His chest tightened.Â
The ringing stopped.Â
A cold knot settled at the base of his neck. He stared at the screen, heart thudding, already regretting it.Â
Then it rang again.Â
This time, he answered.Â
âFuckân finally, Robert! Thought you were fuckân dead when were you planning on telling me you were outta the hospital?âÂ
âWell, good morning to you too.âÂ
âDonât bullshit me. I had to hear it from a nurse. Youâve been awake three months? When were you gonna tell me, huh?âÂ
âEventually,â Robert said quietly.Â
The alpha exhaled on the other end, the anger bleeding into something else.Â
âRobert⌠I was worried. I had to track you down through half the fuckân hospitals in Torrance.âÂ
Robert huffed. âWow. Thanks.âÂ
A pause.Â
âI had to deal with it myself.âÂ
âBullshit.âÂ
Despite himself, Robert smiled faintly.Â
âIâm sorry,â he said at last.Â
âYou better be. How are you holding up?âÂ
Robert hesitated. âNot great.âÂ
âFigured. Listen... Iâve got a proposition. Letâs meet tomorrow. Lunch is on me. Iâll explain in person.âÂ
âOkay.âÂ
âYou remember the diner by the park?âÂ
âThe corner one?âÂ
âThatâs the one. One PM. Donât bail. I know where you live.âÂ
âIâll be there.âÂ
When the call ended, the room felt quieter than before.Â
Robert stared at the dark screen in his hand.Â
Whatever Track Star wanted⌠it was something.Â
And for the first time since waking up...Â
He didnât feel entirely alone.Â

Heyyyy!! So I finally finished another chapter! It's slowly getting interesting! I would love to see what y'all think! Enjoy the little preview here~ ------------

------------
After another night at the infirmary and Ellie finally cleared him for work again. Robert was more than happy to leave his hospital bed behind.Â
He made good use of the shower he had there and got a fresh SDN branded shirt. He cleaned up as much as he could and sighed. He had given the collar to Royd who said he would keep it at the workstation where his Mech was currently getting fixed as well.Â
Robert was honestly pretty excited to finally be able to work again. Gave him something to do, to ease his mind.Â
Flambae hadnât visited him again.Â
To be honest, it did make him a little sad, but he knew better than that. They weren't mates, and he had no claims to make on the hero. Besides, he must have been exhausted after work. Â
Robert didnât blame him.Â
Why would he?Â
He slowly rubbed his palm over his chest, trying to ease the sudden ache he felt.Â
It was nothing.Â
He brushed his teeth and got ready to face the day.Â
Yearning for warm embraces Chapter 7/?
Totally forgot to post this! The next chapter has been out for a while! I will finally show some more in the next one! Please enjoy the sneak peak! ----- The full story is here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/75672911/chapters/205649551 -----
Flambae woke up early this morning, not because he wanted to, but because his night had been restless anyway.
Robert was an omega.
And he had been comfortable enough to tell him this secret.
He sighed.
He wanted to make sure Robert felt comfortable with him. God, he sounded like any alpha would⌠well, he was one, and the best one at that.
