Casting Call, Version 2.0: Part 2
During the first part of this new and improved Casting Call, I mentioned how Leonard Nimoy would have been my ideal choice to play the role of the Highest Elder, Acerus. There was only one problem, and that was Nimoy announcing his retirement after the release of the 2009 Star Trek. And who am I to say, "No! The last role you play cannot be the role that made you well-known worldwide for the rest of film and television history?" So yeah, it's safe to say that he's out of the running here, but who would have that same kind of clout to take his place?
One name came to mind last week. Terence Stamp.
Now, how awesome would THIS be? General Zod himself played a role like Acerus? That'd be amazing and the man has the kind of presence that I'm looking for in a role like this. That's why Acerus is only in a handful of scenes, so that the actor playing him can get booked for a week, maybe two, and then go on to bigger and better things after he stops in with us. It's like Sean Connery in Highlander or Marlon Brando in Superman. Same approach, and if this would actually happen, same effect.
So what are your thoughts on Terence Stamp playing Acerus? And what other actors do you suggest for the various roles?
For Part 3, we'll be going over possible choices for the villains. Who do you see as Emperor Nocterar? Or Danaak? Or how about General Hodera? Let me know...
