#8-bit graphics

I learned how to Scotch Darn over the past month! I watched a really intuitive video (that I unfortunately didn't save the link to) about how to do it and thought, "I have a bunch of socks that need darned and this looks easier than woven darns or God-forbidden Swiss Darning." And it definitely was easier. This will be my go-to for sock mending for a long time now.

Inspired in part by the 8-bit graphics of old Atari and Nintendo video games from his youth, artist Adam Lister paints quirky watercolor interpretations of pop culture icons, art world happenings, and famous paintings. While all of Lister’s works are distinctly humorous, many are also strangely nostalgic, recalling moments from the recent past including comic book characters, Star Wars references, and even numerous interpretations of iconic TV painter Bob Ross.

Slovakian designer Dusan Cezek has combined his passion for film and GIF creation in a new series called "Pixelwood." it involves Cezek taking scenes form his favourite films and creates them in 8-bit form.

Cezek claimed that, he started the project to 'create short film scenes' that contained 'proper atmospheres', and found that pixelating and GIF-ing them was spot on. To achieve this, he was finicky on the films he picked, wanting them to be well known to appreciate, but not too mainstream. So, he picked his favourite films.

He plans to retire from creating 8-bit GIFs as soon as his series is complete. He didn't want to be stuck in a single style for 'too long', and to be seen as 'boring' and 'old news'. But his creations are forever immortal online, so we can still enjoy them.

"Craig Burston's Low Res Des is another nifty page of quirky looking graphics that impresses with it's pixel-like minimalism..." Yes, I know he also said the story was a bit light but I can live with that. It's like accusing Kraftwerk of not being heavy enough. :)
