I would like to present to you Holiday Special PreCure :D
These cuties patooties work hard to protect everyone’s holidays, celebrations and cultures.
There are 4 villains that I need to draw: an Old Man Winter, a Buff Spring flower man, tiny evil boy as green as Summer, and a Cruella De Vill esque depressing despair inducing Autumn lady. It might be a while until I properly draw them, I just wanna mention them :]
Anyhoo, time for the cuties :D
Jia Kokorobako is Cure Cupid
“Love as sweet as chocolate that goes straight to the heart! Cure Cupid!”
“Chokorēto no yō ni amaku, hāto ni massugu todoku koi! Kyua Kyūpiddo!”
“チョコレートのように甘く、ハートにまっすぐ届く恋!キュアキューピッド!”
Jia is studious and friendly. She’s a budding anthropologist, and loves different cultures and holidays. She became interested after learning about the peculiar origins of Valentine’s Day. She spends most of time studying, and is more than happy to share her teachings with others. She’s open minded and social, thrives in company, very understanding and is more than happy to converse with other people. She’s themed on Valentine’s Day, chocolate and has a pink and brown color scheme. She’s 17 years old.
Etymology:
Jia (慈愛) - combining “to love, compassionate” and “love, affection”
Kokorobako (こころ箱) - Combing heart and box, referring to the heart shaped boxes full of chocolate
Cupid is Roman God of desire, affection, and attraction. He’s also the God of lust, but that’s not important in this story. The iconic naked winged boy with the bow and arrow.
Nukume Shiwasuko is Cure Noel
“Happiness as refreshing as peppermint that shines like string lights! Cure Noel!”
“Denshoku no yō ni kirakira, pepāminto no yōna sawayakana shiawase! Kyua Noeru!”
“電飾のようにキラキラ、ペパーミントのような爽やかな幸せ!キュアノエル!”
Nukume is warm-hearted and clumsy. One of THE kindest people you’ll ever meet, she’s compassionate and altruistic. She’s understanding of others’ feelings and is more than willing to help and act on them. She can create a safe and supportive space easily. She’s also forgiving and positive, positive enough to soften and redeem my Old Man Winter villain. She’s also a total klutz. She’s got no spatial awareness whatsoever and is very accident prone, stairs and heights are her first enemy. She’s themed on Christmas, candy canes, and has a red and white color scheme. She’s 17 years old.
Etymology:
Nukume (温女) - combining “warm, gentle ” and “woman”
Shiwasuko (師走女) - combining the traditional Japanese name for December and “child”
Noel is French for Christmas
Fumizuki Hoshikawa is Cure Streamers
“Connections as colorful as streamers, lighting up the night sky like fireworks! Cure Streamers!’
“Irotoridori no tsunagari ga, hanabi no yō ni yozora o terasu! Kyua Sutorīmāzu!”
“色とりどりの繋がりが、花火のように夜空を照らす!キュアストリーマーヅ!”
Fumizuki is bold and a hopeless romantic. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself and other people and taking risks. She’s brave and willing to take the initiative. However, she’s deeply in love with someone and that’s the risk she’s far too scared to take. She doesn’t want people to see her vulnerable because she’s been hurt before, but that doesn’t stop her from daydreaming about her happily ever after with her crush. She’s themed on Tanabata, fireworks and has a blue and rainbow color scheme. She’s 16 years old.
Etymology:
Fumizuki (文月) - the traditional Japanese name for July
Hoshikawa (星川) - combining “star” and “river”
Kogure Aeba is Cure Eid
“Forgiveness as glorious as a feast, shining like the setting sun! Cure Eid!”
“Yurushi wa shukuen no yō ni eikō ni michi, yūhi no yō ni kagayaku! Kyua Īdo!”
“許しは祝宴のように栄光に満ち、夕日のように輝く!キュアイード!”
Fun fact: I asked my mommy for some help on personality traits and she said when looking at her “Not to the point of toxicity, but a little vanity” Thank you mommy :D
Kogure is patient and confident. She can stay calm and composed in tough situations and is adaptable. She can handle most delays and setbacks. The flexibility does tend to waver when it gets in the way of her appearance. Her face routine and outfits are quite important to her, but she obviously will take care of more important issues. She’s also comfortable in her own skin, she aware of her weaknesses and isn’t ashamed of them, and very proud of her strengths. She’s themed on Eid-al-Fitr, sweets (specifically baklava and halva) and has a yellow color scheme. Her “hair” is actually a scalloped undercap, and a hijab with lots of fabric stylized to look like two large curly twin tails. She’s 16 years old.
Etymology:
Kogure (來暮) - combining “future” and “dusk, evening”
Aeba (饗場) - combining “feast” and “place, scene”
Eid means feast or festival
