I wasn't huge on the last 3 episodes but they actually brought it back a good amount for this finale, exciting with nice action and good character resolution for everyone involved, followed by a "where are they now?" type ending with a very clear sequel hook that I'd like to see followed up on but probably will not be lmao. Aoi Yuuki was my favourite character.
I had a closing shift tonight but I had an extremely fucking bad headache again so I actually had to go home during the shift because it was literally that bad, but upon getting home I had some paracetamol and I feel a lot a lot better and so I decided yeah I mean I can continue my three flavours cornetto groupwatch I'm doing, I suppose. Shaun of the Dead unfortunately lacked an easy cool title card like Hot Fuzz did so we just get this "I finished the movie and you can see what movie I was watching" type screenshot. Anyway, had less fun than with Hot Fuzz, I think because it's a notably slower movie with less clever scripting and a less enjoyable cast, but I mean it's still good fun, hits its fairly frequent emotional beats surprisingly well and is ofc funny and has unique and exciting direction. I guess I'll uh, watch The World's End soon as well. Unlike Shaun and Hot Fuzz which I've seen multiple times throughout my life I only watched that one once, relatively soon after it came out, and I remember not liking it quite as much, but it's also very possible that it went over my head, so I'm interested to see how the rewatch would play out.
Okay no tbf this episode is better than I remembered, it's just paced weirdly is all. I like all the stuff that comprises the first like half or two thirds or so, Otonashi and Kanade's bonding and then being trapped together specifically. That's all good, puts the former more on track for his arc and has gotten us closer to the latter's actual deal, like yeah gaming. But all the Naoi stuff is just very like, it feels like it needs to be longer is all. He's decided the world they're in is a way to find a God candidate basically and he's gonna be the one, until Otonashi tells him once that his real life had value blah blah blah stuff he's learned from knowing Yuri and Iwasawa's backstories, but that's about it. Again nothing bad, just a bit sudden. It's emotionally cathartic enough in its intentions to like end a cour with, but no we're only on episode 6, and have been a majority comedy show for that runtime. Oh well.
