Okay I cried at the last chapter. The author was a resident doctor, so very close to becoming a highly successful independent neurosurgeon alongside his wife, also a doctor when he was diagnosed with cancer. A type of cancer that is fatal in pretty short order. He comes to term with his changing health over the next few years, deciding between continuing medicine and turning to writing, whether to have a child with his wife or not when he can't know when his time is up.
His wife finished the last chapter for him after he died. It was a beautiful tribute to him and I found myself imagining being in her place and I couldn't help but feel crushed and I'm in awe not only of his strength and endurance but of hers. Committed to raising their child alone and going on despite mourning.
10/10 going back to read again. Will probably cry again
