I genuinely don’t trust anyone who says they think light had a good point and killing all criminals would make the world a better place because it requires a lack of critical understanding that actually frightens me a little. You’ve got to believe that 1: all laws are accurate representations of objective morality that are all correct and not biased by anything; 2: killing people who commit acts that would have them found guilty of a crime in a court of law (regardless of if they have actually been on trial or not) is always justified and will always deter all subsequent attempts at said crime for fear of death, and the rate of accidental murder of innocents is so low it doesnt really even matter anyway; 3: a single person is responsible and trustworthy by means of pure intelligence enough to be actually objective and in charge of deciding who lives and dies with no supervision, pushback, or personal agendas being present; and 4: a world in which people can be murdered for being accused of a crime (again, regardless of if theyve actually been on trial or not) is a happy world that we need and would be better than a world not living in fear of supernatural murder, all because acts that have been decided as criminal by the government have decreased. Not to mention the fact that technically the violent crime rate would increase because of kira’s murders (he just doesnt include them) or that a large part of the crime rate supposedly decreasing is probably because normal people don’t want to feel responsible for literally flat out murdering someone who commits a crime, no matter how genuinely evil that act may be. People who honestly think that Light’s world is objectively a good place to live and he was a hero have zero critical thinking skills and it makes me go crazy im sorry

since the teens brought back scene fashion without bringing back skinny jeans they've reinvented L death note

watching death note with my family and after the college entrance episode my mom asked offhandedly if anyone had ever pictured L and light as a couple before. it felt like one single white dove had landed on a crystalline lake in a beautiful pure clearing. no i dont think anyones ever thought of that before

honestly i feel like the death note drama gets a reputation for being deranged and that is because it is deranged but it is ALSO one of the most heartfelt adaptations i have ever seen in my life. it truly understood that it was walking into a beloved fandom more than a decade old and it was not afraid of that. it didn’t replicate the events of death note — it looked for what was at the heart of them, and it put that onscreen instead. it’s both a loving deconstruction and an enthusiastic celebration of death note. it is silly and weird and dead serious. the whole cast looks like they’re having the time of their lives. somehow it’s both the most and least loyal adaptation of death note at the exact same time. it is not for everyone, many people won’t click with the extraordinarily bizarre choices it makes, but i do recommend that everyone give it a chance because it is a wonderfully earnest show that cares very deeply for its source material and wants to tell a good story to the people who love it.

If I had the death note I wouldn’t even care about killing people the real kicker is that you can bend their will before they die. Like who cares if I could give joe biden a heart attack BUT i could make him go up the the podium and say something like “I need a thick girl and a blunt right now or I’ll die” and then he explodes.
