Now I would like to put forward a question: what do dragons to to princesses and what do knights do to dragons?

...I was going to leave this in the tags but I wrote so much I may as well put it here (you can watch my mental deterioration in real time!)

+ before rejoining the heroes she is constantly repeating what the game tells you from the start: your choices don't really matter #and though she's still defying control the whole time it is only after deciding to give heroism a try she starts to really push the people around her into much needed defiance of their own established roles as well + susie as an anagram of issue + the way ralsei says #'she's a really nice person. how can she be so kind? how?' after she smashes the prophecy + 'she's so nice it makes my heart hurt' before

all of which leads back to my own theory: susie's prophecised to be a villain/traitor and her first true act of defiance was in rejecting it #i wanted to get it out before the game proves me wrong (possibly in the upcoming chapter!) but then i just gave up trying to lay it all out #but then i ended up doing that anyway in the tags so alls well that ends well i guess #when the party encounters the titan in ch4 ralsei is sufficiently panicked + says we have to escape it + then just beforeit reveals itself he wearily says 'it's already… been here the whole time.' i bring this up because he ould've been acting out shock when susie left in ch1 #or maybe not! either way the way her kindness confuses and hurts him makes me think one of them will turn traitor according to the prophecy

or someone will die! again. dragons steal princesses. knights slay dragons. princesses are saved by knights. susie could be slain! #this could be by kris or the knight! ralsei could be taken (metaphorically or as in kidnapped)! additionally i think it's notable that in t #kris (knight) + noelle (princess) are pushed together in a comphet-ish way (most explicitly in snowgrave but not exclusively! remember the #ferris wheel) + susie (dragon) serves as a sort of third intrusive option that neither are meant to want but do anyway + susie being a love #interest to noelle is her stealing the princess whereas the deemphasis on her in snowgrave is kris (you) taking her back (i have similar #thoughts on ralsei's crush on kris -- princess/knight. although it is noteworthy that ralsei is a *prince* here + not a princess. as far as we #currently know at least (every princess needs a knight right?) + berdly trying to date noelle + her going along w it even though neither of #them really want to + they both like susie in the end. susie 'third forbidden option/princess thief' deltarune strikes again!

noelle is kidnapped by the queen in ch2 as well + i think it's worth examining her thing of feeling overprotected + stifled while #simultaneously deeply ignored + the parallels between the queen + her mom (the mayor! a modern day queen) in the context of being A Princess #(specifically a damsel). i've always thought ralsei + noelle felt fairly similar in a way (demure/repressed/mages) + i do think this is why #the way berdly antagonises kris seemingly as his Rival in ch2 was also interesting since they're both Knights + i think it says something #about how kris views themself/is made to feel that toriel + asgore are king + queen + kris is a knight. close. related. not a royal themself #i want to be clear that when i call kris + noelle comphet i'm not likening kris to a boy i just mean the way snowgrave plays out an outside #force (the player) forces them together in a way that casts kris as the domineering (cis) husband + noelle as the submissive (straight) wife"
