After months of lurking on here, I got really bored at jury duty one day & decided I'd try posting about ST. Now I can't stop. Iâm in pretty deep.
I'm a 30-something, queer, ADHD clinical social worker that loves deep dives, abstract thinking, and metaphors.
Maybe it's the state of the world that led me here, or the 9 years leading up to ST5, but I've never had a hyperfixation quite like this.

You know that seemingly complex, multi-layered Henry IV (Shakespearian) reference in the (already bamboozling) scenes at Suzie's house (S4E6)?
Well, I think I've narrowed down which character represents Mike:
And I think this because of a possible clue in "The Lonely Paladin" chapter of Eddie's side quests in ST Puzzle Tales:
A sword with a magical ribbon, you say?
I don't really have time to describe it, but I think these scenes with the swordfighting siblings is kind of a clue for us (the viewers) and maybe for our characters (perhaps Mike, himself), to help him realize it's an illusion (kind of like that TMNT x ST comic I briefly described here):
I've never seen or read the play, but based on a lot of reading and watching YT videos, I think it's kind of like:
"Prince Hal" is going to become "King Henry V," but at the start of the play, he likes clowning around with his buddy, Falstaff.
Hal & FAlstaff make a silly scene at a bar, where Falstaff prefends to be the current King (Henry IV), roasting his son for being kind of a fuck-up ("you starveling..").
Hal eventually ends up stepping up into his Kingly duties and actually betrays Falstaff (Last Supper painting, anyone?).
If I understand correctly, though, there's an interesting twist, where the lines were kind of subverted. Instead of Hal-now-Henry-V saying "away you mouldy rogue" to Falstaff." Both kids (representing Hal & Falstaff) are turned against their father when the daughter delivers that line.
It's an orange ribbon - so...maybe it kind of represents the stasis/weirdness/magic that we see in the epilogue of S5.
Maybe Mike has a choice to make and this is cluing us in that he's not going to betray his friends?
Oh, also, I'm fairly certain that Suzie's house is an illusion and that's just the Creel attic outside her room.
I've been thinking about Men in Black's "Orion's Belt" a lot today, but had forgotten how much the inside of the alien's human-suit looked like Project NINA's screens inside.
Weird, huh?
And the lighting at the base kind of reminds me of the Gravitron.
I'm not saying I'm confident this is what's going on, but it'd be funny if this connected to all the other potential clues about characters being "tiny" (like Polly Pocket & FP "Little People" toys, the DB's commencement speech that talked about a halfling/tiny human who can fit through a small hole in a gate and pull a lever to let your party in), or the ST nesting dolls).
I'm gonna have to do a MIB rewatch and ponder this a bit, I'm afraid.
Does anyone with a large screen TV think Robin's necklace at the end of S4E9 looks like the galaxy on "Orion's Belt" in Men in Black?
I can't see it big/clear enough, but that'd be a wild reference (think: contained galaxies/dimensions).
Fun fact: I'm in my mid-thirties, and while back when I was dating someone 4 years younger than me, I told the story of Men in Black as a bedtime story to them and got away with it for way longer than I expected. So, I might be a serious unc for thinking this.
Funny - I didn't think much of this "Discover Your Future"/"What Next commercial for Netflix, but this cat's collar reminded me of the cat's collar in Men In Black, which reminded me of Robin's necklace in the ST4 finale.
FR, though...There could be something up with this mystery-necklace.
I've been watching old ST Puzzle Tales playthrough videos (RIP Puzzle Tales), and I'm sorry if someone else has posted about it, but I noticed that one of the enemies you have to defeat in some of the later "chapters" is called a "dracolich."

I'm no D&D expert, and I'm even a little overwhelmed trying to absorb and understand the differences between the different rules/lore for dracoliths over the different D&D editions, but some of the things that I've gathered about dracoliths from a handful of sources (like here, here, and here) are:
They are made using arcane magic, usually in partnership with a powerful magic user (i.e., sorcerer, wizard, cleric).
Like other liches, a dracolich's soul is held in a phylactery, so that when it's body dies, it can resurrect. This can probably be a number of objects, but at least one of my sources kept referring to them as gems (*which I'll come back to*).
Unlike other liches, though (whose bodies just reform near the phylactery), dracoliches' souls can just inhabit any suitable corpse near them. I'm not sure exactly what "any dead reptillian body" can include (a ST demogorgon, perhaps? A "pain tree" spider seems to arachnid-y, but who knows).
So, also, part of this great plan can also mean needing to keep suitable, replacement bodies (possibly multiple?) nearby, where the phylactery is, which is usually a secret lair / hoard.
Which brings me back to Robin...
Whether there's a dragon involved, or not, if this pendant happened to be a phylactery, I'd bet at some point it was hidden in the jar of marbles hidden in "Max's" cave hideout (but, I think the jar of marbles in Henry's bedroom would be a good runner-up):
Actually, maybe the bedroom is a good option, because there's a dead prawn right next to the marbles that the actors really bring attention to here:

I was recently revisiting Hook (1991), and if you haven't seen it, there's a "Lost Boy," Tootles, who decides to grow up. We meet him when he's scrounging around saying "I've lost my marbles." We're supposed to assume he's developed a memory issue. And well, he has, but actually it's that his "marbles" are literally his "happy thoughts" that allow him to fly. Seeing him regain them is adorable.

And also - holy fuck - When I was on YT , searching for "Tootles Lost My Marbles," I found this 1990 cartoon (Fox's "Peter Pan and the Pirates")
Tootles pulls a key-shaped "excalibur" out of a rock, hoping to become "King" for a day.
This wakes an underwater dragon.
Scared, Tootles drops the key in the water.
The dragon ends up lifing the pirate ship and lifts it into the air (or into a tree?)., while the kids are playing a game called "Find Dragon's Rock" (kind of sounds like finding skull rock).
The kids make a web-shaped net with rope and briefly slow down the dragon with it.
Tinkerbell helps Tootles be brave ("I'll be right there with you." - sounds like Joyce).
Ultimately, Tootles is the one to turn the lock on the dragon's "locket" (looks like a chastity belt to me - ha! but also kind of like Soteria).

So, I've been on a quest for absorbing as much of the *cLUeS* that seem to be in Funkopop-related merch without buying any of it, and I want to point out a couple things I've realized while capturing screenshots (below) from this YT flip-through video of the Little Golden Book, "Inside, Outside, Upside Down: A Book of Opposites"
First off - I still think it's weird that there's ABC / 123 type books for children with ST IP. I get that it's "for the parents," really, but aren't the kids going to have questions? ((It funnily reminds me of why I could never see the mysterious movie that the Splash Mountain ride at Disneyworld was based on, and seemed to be featured in some musical sing-a-long VHS tapes.))
Second - I've got to point out that the title of this book appears to be a direct reference to the Berenstain Bears' 1968 children's book, "Inside, Outside, Upside Down." Yes, the same "Berenstain Bears" that many people, including myself, (apparently incorrectly) remember as the Berenstein Bears (which is often used as as an example of the Mandela Effect). That said, the 1968 book has WAY less text than the ST book, and seems to be more about teaching young children spatial concepts (rather than opposites). I'l make a few conformitygate-relevant observations below these screenshots:
Okay, so here's my main observations:
I don't remember Chrissy seeing spiders in the bathroom.
I notice Nancy & Vecna both seem to be in the attic when he's ominously reaching out to her. That's different than what the show implies (that she gets GOT while in the Munsons' UD trailer).
Seems like Eleven is already sad that she's not in Hawkins when she's giving her hero presentation at school in Lenora.
Weird to see Mike in a desert area with the (simplified) Hellfire shirt on.
Also, it reads like Eleven heads to Indiana BEFORE the helicopter tries to stop her.
Hopper only kills a demodog in Russia (that might just make sense to be less spooky for children)
It's funny to see the tentacles chasing after Erica (running out of the Creel House)
Also - haha - the Byler observation I've seen folks made before that Will and Mike are sitting on the last page where it says "friends always stand together."
So, I found a read-a-long video of the (gross-looking Funko) ST ABCs book, and here's the screenshots if anybody wants to check those out:
I still stand by my previous claim that it looks like S3 Mike has a crush on Will. Either way, some other things I think are interesting (and, of course, may mean nothing):

Love that the mysterious business beside Radioshack is still mysterious.
Weird, present-tense language in "C is for Creel, a family with a creepy old house."
Funny how their outfits don't always come from the same season. Like on "F is for Friend," El's got her S1 outfit on instead of one of her trademark colorful fits. Same thing in "P is for Party."
I wonder what Erica and Mike are seeing up in the the tree in "I is for Investigation." Also, I'm pretty damn sure there's more to that fucked up tree outside the high school. Maybe this could be a hint toward a missing scene?
Kamchatka's description as an "icebound base," might be a reference to this 2021 D&D cartoon series.
One is the origin of evil in Hawkins (not Henry, not Friendly Orderly, etc.)
Max's oddly left out climbing up Weathertop (and the kids appear to be climbing up from the opposite direction).
No quite as suspicious - Dustin and Robin are not pictured with Dustin & Erica in the Russian lab underground tunnels.
Where the hell are Mike, Dustin, and Eleven in the "T is for Together" page? I'd say it's the desert landscape from the S5 "mindscape," but I swear the rocks in the background look like Sattler's Quarry (if Sattler's Quarry was dried up). I wonder why they're all wearing clothes from different parts of S4 on that page.
That Vecna seems to be hanging in the UD version of the Harrington's pool...weird.
Castle Byers looks to be still standing, despite Will being in S4 wear and holding the S4 painting.
Not totally sure what the extra, dotted, squiggly line is on Hopper's pumpkin/tunnels map.
The damn, cheeky dreams-quip at the end.
Oh, and El's head is shaved in every image of her, despite the season. Hm...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets a kick out of this minor character's name.
Though, I might be alone in how much I've overthought the possible implications.

Could "Chaz" somehow be a cheeky reference to the 4th-wall-breaking of it all that has yet to be explained?
Chaz is a nickname for Charles, which can apparently mean "free man."
I'm not much into celebrity, but it's funny to imagine that Argyle 2.0 could be friends with the actor, Charlie Heaton, and they were gonna meet up at Taco Bell.
I also hope at some point we can find out (or at least deduce) what it might've meant in S3 that Taco Bell was "coming soon" to the mall foodcourt.

I've been thinking about this gripe about the Blu Ray deluxe box set, and I've got an idea!
You know, the issue where S4's see-through cover makes S4 doesn't match up with the others, and apparently now people like this guy are already making and selling stickers to fix the appearance of it?
I haven't heard anyone mention, yet, how if you take the slip covers off all the other seasons, the titles at the top actually do match.
Excuse the dark picture and little un-even-ness. I've been playing around with them and it's late.
Maybe it's nothing, but I think it's kind of funny that I'm, like, "looking behind the curtain" for multiple seasons for things to line up.
And if we're willing to consider that could be intentional, maybe there's also something symbolic that S4 slipcover is see-through (you know, with all the glass and mirror imagery)? Or, that S4 can appear to line up with the others (without slipcovers), even when it is behind a curtain or filtered in some way.
Also - I think there's something a bit darkly funny going on here. I know Kate Trefry has spoken publicly about having "hardcore OCD." And, at risk of reinforcing the stereotype that OCD is about orderliness/cleanliness (it's so much more than that), I just want to say it's hilarious that S4 sticks out so much.
At some point (maybe after we get some answers), I might want to share more about what I've learned about the intersection of ADHD & OCD along this conformitygate journey, but tonight isn't the night.
Just, as brilliant as any kind of reveal and deeper and/or fourth-wall-breaking meaning could be, I still just hope I never experience something like this again without at least a little more informed consent.

The only characters on this poster are Jane, Will, Nancy, Steve, Dustin and Derek.
It features Nancy holding the ever-illusive flamethrower, Will in Vecnaâs place and demobats (which is weird considering the fact that every character seems to be from the season 5 era).
I remember seeing this poster before season 5 was released, but seeing it again feels like whiplash.
I freaking thought this tee shirt design was officially licensed!
It's just that Fright Rags' listing for this shirt didn't specify that it's officially licensed. Maybe that's odd, maybe it's not, but it created some plausible deniability.
I've always assumed that was Will attached to the vines, but I'm curious if anyone thinks it...kind of looks like Mike?
Also - Just yesterday, I posted about a couple significant moments in ST4 and The First Shadow that may simultaneously take place at 10:15.
I wonder if whatever is significant about 10:08 in this design and the 10:08 in the "Vanishing of Holly Wheeler" poster could both have occurred right before the significant events at 10:15.

Quick Addition:
This could really not be related at all, but I noticed there's also a notable time at 10:04 in the series. 10:04 is the time in S1 that we see the classroom wall clock after El and the Demogorgon disappear. It's also the time that's still displayed on the clock in the UD version of the classroom that we see in the flashback where Eleven appears to wake up after poofing herself and the demo.
...Which, seems pretty wild, because we're led to believe that the clocks should be stuck on the time the UD was created, and that that time is not supposed to be the finale of S1.
Maybe there really is more behind young El's line, "no more."

Oh shit. I went to the spot in S1E8, and it's not EXACT with my screenshot, but probably exactly 4 minutes after Eleven disappears, we get about a 7-ish second fade/black out (maybe only 6 seconds), and then opening up to seeing Will in the hospital bed.
Hm...maybe there could be something going on here. But for now, I gotta go back to work. haha

I was watching this Tiktok that mentioned Bob Newby having a power surge at 10:15, and that had me thinking, I wonder if anything else happens at 10:15.
Then I found it in S4E5:
Now, I don't expect live performances to perfectly sync up with the show, but it'd be interesting if the recording of TFS is taking so long for them to release, in part, because they're really splitting hairs to get certain moments to sync up.
I tried to do a rough sync with Netflix & the bootleg TFS recording that was (suspiciously) on Youtube for nearly 2 weeks back in December (which I would never rip into an mp4 file). If there IS anything to it, roughly these events could be happening around the same times.
And I could be wrong, but I kind of think the version of Henry we see killing Prancer (the cat) in TFS might time up with when Patrick gets Vecna'd. Maybe.
It's funny I think these moments might be connected, because I've already pitched that about two other moments that seem to be connected to Eleven's resussitation / apparent return of powers (i.e., Max waking up in the HNL mindscape, and Holly saying "I don't understand" to Max similar to how Eleven says it to Brenner).
What's different now is that I'm wondering if this has something to do with the Creel Clock or Dustin's "Forever Clock."
See how in this TMNT crossover comic, Eleven has been caught by baddies, and put in a machine that uses her powers against her. The TMNT baddie, Dr. Stockman, has put her in an illusion to trick her into thinking she's with Hopper and trying to open a door at the cabin, when ACTUALLY she's physically about to open a portal. Then, our friends and their new friends have to help Eleven realize she's in an illusion (because the mind is so fragile?). It's fascinating.
So, like, what if Eleven is somehow believing that she's in one place, when she's actually being used to "turn back the clock," or something (via the Light Ring).
Which also reminded me of this little quip that JCB made in this set tour video:
I've also been sitting on this for a while (stuck/overwhelmed to connect it to Disney's "Carousel of Progress" ride, and other strong connections to the NY 1964/65 World's Fair, which I'll hopefully get around to finishing & posting at some point)...but I want to mention that I looked up this number from Kali's bloodbag:
And maybe it's just a coincidence, but overwhelmingly what I found was a generic code used across manufacturers for single direction ball-bearings.
You know, the type of things that might be used in clock towers, wind turbines, carousels, ferris wheels, and maybe whatever the heck is underneath the concentric circles of TFS play stage?
Anyway, I gotta get to my job. I don't have a specific theory I've extrapolated from all this quite yet, but I thought I'd share.

And last thing - you know what's interesting to me about this script? It says no one wants to follow 002 in the Light Ring session. But what we saw in the show was all these little kids in unison saying "me," at like 70 - 80bpm. It almost sounds like a heart monitor.
If it was, would've have been Eleven's heart? Henry's? Max's? Will's?

I've been pondering these types of shirts for a while, and...while I still think there's more to the allusion to screams and operating systems, what if it's just saying that somehow our beloved characters were the ones who helped (apparently) young Eleven get out of the tank, change clothes, and escape HNL?
If not...when else would we (4th wall breaking) or our characters need to save Eleven?
S4? Hm...I'm going back to the drawing board. Just thinking about different ways the seasons might eventually zip together.
Alternatively, maybe it has something to to with this part at the end of the ST VR game where Max says to El: "it's my turn now, just...promise you'll remember me, ok?"
Dr Owens, Barb/Nancy and two tapes-memories in one: Jonathan and Nancy were not together in the Lab
(the Shutter Island, The Truman Show and Fight Club)
Do you remember a theory that Hawkins got flayed in the end of season 2? I believe we have corrupted memories earlier (most likely from the very beginning of the show, but thatâs story for another time). Letâs check this one out.
The first thing that stood out to me was this shot:
Dr Owens opens the door, and the scientist starts âworkingâ immediately. He was not working, when the door opened, he started at the same moment. This jumped out at me as if it was staged, and no one was indeed working there until Nancy and Jonathan entered the room. It gave The Truman Show immediately, and I rewatched the whole sequence⌠a dozen times.
The sequence starts with this shot:
Here we see just Jonathan, and it would be fine, if only I didnât feel weird by the way the next shot separates Jonathan from Nancy: we see just him in the mirror, which is okay for thing angle, but something still feels off⌠For example, the fact that Jonathan in the mirror is not Jonathan in the room. The mirror is fake!
You can see this clearly if you compare the way the chair is seen and Jonathanâs posture.
Then, this shot is followed by (what would you think) the surveillance camera shot đââď¸ where everything goes even wilder right away:
as much as I could dismiss Jonathanâs hands (the right one is on the left one, while in the shot before the left one was above) or Nancyâs bag (and its shoulder strap) changing position, we still have Jonathanâs posture on the left where he sits with his back against his backrest, while in the mirror itâs different again, but also!!!!
NANCY IS TRANSPARENT!
It looks like her image was put above Jonathanâs. Thereâs literally no explanation for this table to be seen at the same time we see Nancy. And besides, her image clearly differs from the whole shot. Meanwhile, the shot with Jonathan looks like he is alone there silently looking right into the camera.
My first theory was that Nancy is non-existent in this sequence whatsoever and this is only Jonâs memory, but some dialogues after made me reconsider this.
Anyways, then Owens suggest a walk, and Jonathan again doesnât match his reflection: staying right in front of the chair on this side, he stands very far in the mirror, and also close to the end of the table (although he moves synchronically).
They start walking, and here I caught The Truman Show vibes, when several people were turning around (as if they were curious actors), and The Shutter Island vibes bc, even though Owens addresses them both a couple of times, it still can be seen as if he was talking to only one of them for whom this spectacle is played. Here I had a theory that Jonathan lost his mind after Willâs death, and Owens plays along to his fantasy that he investigates something with Nancy Wheeler, and everyone knows whatâs happening and thatâs why they turn around.
But is the corridor walk Jonathanâs memory?
The wording âyour brother and Ms. Hollandâ⌠Whose brother? Did anything happened to Mike? Why does it sound like he speaks to just one person? And this person is Nancy⌠Imagine, that sheâs alone: he speaks of Mike, or Barbara, then:
âYou guys been together long?â âWe (we)re not together.â âWanna see what really killed your friend?â
It could be about Jonathan and Will, but then Barb stands out and I barely see Jonathan and Barb as a possibility⌠but who knows atp. My bet is Bancy though, with the hunch that here we witness two separate tapes and memories combined. Firstly, Jonathanâs, then Nancyâs. Corrupted memories by Brennerâs tapes?

Consider the possibility that Jonathan in the mirror is Jonathan on the tape, the hands actually match⌠the fact that tape!Jonâs and real!Johnâs hands do not match can be just a production error (moreover, on the tape we can see a mirror too in the âcorrectâ place, not mirrored, so I might be wrong), but the idea of the mirrored reality seems curious.
