Breonna Taylor should be here today. She should never have been a name we know for the reason we know it. She had her entire life ahead of her before it was stolen by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
When we demand justice for Breonna a year after her senseless murder, please remember we are demanding justice for those who were left shattered: Her mom. Her sister. Her boyfriend. Everyone who loved Breonna before she was a worldwide name.
The justice lives in the arresting, charging, and conviction of Myles Cosgrove, Jon Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Joshua Jaynes for the murder of Breonna Taylor.
Justice lives in abolishing the systems that allowed for the aforementioned to kill an innocent woman in her own home.
Justice lives in a fair trial before a Grand Jury.
Justice lives in a reality wherein there are no more hashtags demanding justice for murders at the hands of police.
In honor of the memory of Breonna Taylor, let’s continue to fight for justice.
