i think i really enjoy....helplessness in a narrative. You or a character are trapped in an impossible situation but you're given JUST enough tools to get a glimmer of hope. You learn the rules of this world and play around it, you learn what to do and what to avoid, you even triumph in some situations. You forget that you've gotten yourself between a rock and a hard place. Just because you can inch your way forward doesn't mean you arms aren't pinned to your sides, it doesn't mean that every time you breathe in, you aren't reminded of the mountain above you.
