                 Fingertips touching the paper, he moved them along the words. From the very first word he went to the last one he had written. With a deep sigh, he held up the paper and read it aloud. 

"I saw you with him/her."

"I don't want to be just your mistress anymore."

"Is it me or her/him?"

"I'm not jealous."

"I already have a date tonight."

"You had a chance and you blew it -- I'm moving on."

"Was I not good enough?"

"Wasn't I enough?"

"It was a one time thing."

"S/He meant nothing, I swear."

"Am I supposed to wait on you forever?"

"Leave me alone, I'm trying to pack."

"I'm staying at (insert name)'s place tonight."

"I didn't -- oh God, I didn't mean to hit you that hard."

"Please forgive me."

"Who's number is this?"

"It was always her/him, wasn't it?"

"I wish I could hate you. I wish I didn't love you."

"Maybe you should be thinking with your head. And I mean the one attached to your neck."

"If you loved me, then why did you ever go with her?"

"I'm not going to let you love me."

"I'm never going to let my feelings get the best of me."

"I'll be honest. I want to be with you more than anything. But I won't let myself."

"I'm trying to move on, you should too."

"S/He is making me happy again. Why do you want to ruin that?"

"I gave up on you."

"You made out with me. That's not official, and that's not marking me as yours."

     “I’ve got it covered.” Lewis’ tone was flat. Slightly sassy. The employees behind the register began putting together Ken’s order, and Lewis paid for it without giving his acquaintance the chance to pitch in. A bit of heavy spending at a café was of no consquence; it was about half as much his family would normally spend at a high-end restaurant per person. If they ate, that is.      Soon a tray was set out with all the items Ken had ordered. Lewis gestured to it. “Bon appétit. It looks delicious, doesn’t it?” ( Except not really. Not to him. )

                  “It for sure is delicious!”he said, excitement easy to see in those chocolate brown eyes of his. He was ready to taste everything, but he didn’t want to seem like a poorly mannered person in front of someone he barely knew. 

                  He raised up the soup cup and brought it closer to his mouth, tilting it up and drinking the soup a little. It tasted better than ever. He took another sip of the soup and then placed the cup on the table again, now looking at Lewis. “--It’s so good.”
