In a stressful situation, we got 3 switch types

I still don't know what the planet I'm from looks like, completely, or how it works, which sucks. But I have some knowledge about the biology of my species and some cultural stuff which is amazing.

Based on both my "memories" of stuff and assumptions I've made based on my own experiences and behaviors here is some stuff I am pretty sure about concerning my species:

We're shapeshifters! Our shapeshifting is facilitated by the structure of our bodies; we're composed of a multitude of smaller creatures that can function independently. They form membranes around themselves for protection, which can have many different properties. Because of the ability of the creatures to function on their own, and the membranes they can split and reform into different shapes.

Because of our ability to shapeshift, having multiple separate identities is pretty much the default. Members of our species would cycle through lots of different personalities and even names over their lives, and would sometimes use multiple names or identities at a time.

I'm pretty sure we get energy through something like photosynthesis

Being low or no empathy/sympathy and being anattractional (by human standards) is the default.

Sometimes I worry and feel a little childish for being involved in system communities. I know there are some adult systems, but there have to be more, right?

(And please remember there are multiple cultures in this world)

Therianthropy is alterhuman, but alterhuman is NOT therianthropy.

Otherkin may be nonhuman, but not all otherkin are animalistic nonhuman.

There are fictionkin that can cross all the big categories.

Not everything is “I identify as this nonhuman animal”.

Some dragons are allowed to look ugly and that's okay.

Not everyone is going to look like a nightfury or the sleek modern DnD dragons, and you shouldn't be ashamed if you don't. Objectivly, some of us are going to look like the strange dragons from the Middle Ages with hog noses and stringy manes with bird wings on two legs.

You're allowed to be a little ugly. Embrace it.

Not many people have a whole account dedicated to being transgender, but if they have a different account they might bring it up. I posted here when I didn’t really know who I was, and I wanted fellowship and community to help me understand myself. It did work, but I realised I didn’t need it much anymore because I was comfortable not feeling the need to label myself as much anymore.

Sometimes I am just an animal and I feel at peace going to sleep with only that and nothing else, and the same goes for gender identity.

Usually, online, I'll see folks and critters chatting about their specific types and the kind of things they experience regarding them. I've seen dogs talk about vocals, birds talk about nesting, dragons wishing they could fly, and shape-shifters yearning to change their form. Often, I see people with multiple types chatting about the overlapping traits.
