did we not learn ratios or solving for x in school. it's not even me being an experienced crafter or whatever. say the tutorial says to cast on 100 stitches to do a ruffle, and then you need to get it down to 40 stitches to do the ankle of the sock. but wait. the yarn you have is thinner, so you need 64 stitches for the ankle. but the ruffle won't turn out right. if only a simple calculation could figure this out. it's not like you have to solve 100/40 = x/64.
oh wait that's exactly what you have to do to find out how many stitches you need to cast on. and you're acting like it's hard.
