It's been fucking forever since I've touched this account, I know. My friend needs help, though, and we're at a point were we're using every avenue we can.
My friend Damien is almost done studying for his nursing degree at the University of New Mexico. He's less than a month away from graduation and the scholarship office decided to rip out his financial aid from under him. He's 8000$ short of being able to pay that last bit of tuition he needs and his licensing exams after graduation.
It's been his dream for years to become a nurse and work in the pediatric unit. He's disabled and spent a lot of time in the hospital growing up, and wants to help kids going through what he had to go through have an easier time.
He's extremely passionate about this, and it would mean the world to both him and me to be able to get enough money to be able to pay this last bit of tuition. Anything helps. And if you can't donate, it'd mean the world to me if you could reblog and/or pass the link around.

I really love the convention here of referring to people as ‘tumblr user [username]’, it has the same energy as ‘citizen’ or ‘comrade’ but with the additional top-heavy gravity of 4 entire syllables
Apparently HORG is widely appreciated by pediatricians since knowing exactly what kind of Occlupanid a child may have swallowed makes removing it safely much easier
IIRC this is actually part of the reason HORG was started. A man swallowed a breadclip and the clip closed around part of his tissue linings (in his intestines I think?). The specific shape and flexibility of the clip were significant determining factors in the removal process, as some bread clips have spikes and prongs that would have made extraction more complicated. They started the taxonomy so they could work out extraction techniques for each type.
