I just think that 'animals are living intelligent creatures that have feelings and deserve to be respected' and 'when done properly farming is beneficial to both people and animals and there's nothing wrong with raising and killing animals for food, clothing, and other products' are concepts that very much can and should coexist

it's such a bummer that losing control of your emotions only makes the entire situation worse in really embarrassing personal ways. losing control of my emotions should give me pyrokinesis.

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

the frequency of needing to food shop because you eat food and therefore deplete what you previously bought and need to restock…………being an adult is a nightmare

so much of western horror perpetuates colonial ideas of the americas as this vast tract of unknowable untouched wilderness that will swallow you up the moment you step outside “civilization” and it’s like. for millennia pre-contact that was just someone’s backyard. there’s probably still evidence of indigenous cultural practices on the landscape if you know how to look

like i don’t think people realize just how much indigenous culture shaped the landscape of the americas in part because of colonialism preventing traditional practices and in part because it’s just not really talked about. clam gardens, sustainable forestry, and controlled burning are just some examples of indigenous land management, all of which were derived from an incredible, complex wealth of ecological knowledge. the colonial lens would have you believe that the impact of indigenous peoples on the land is/was minimal when in actuality it’s shaped so much of what we view as “wilderness” today. so to watch a horror movie or whatever where they’re like “oh spooky woods that no one knows anything about!” is like, well that’s simply not true
