𝒔𝒆𝒉𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒕.

Typically, Lucy wasn’t one to push — in part because she hated being pushed herself, and in part because she couldn’t stand the thought of upsetting someone by making them talk. But given the fact that everything seemed upsetting lately, there probably wasn’t much worse that could be done. “...are you sure?” She hesitated to ask, drawing her hand back but still standing in place. After another second of thought, she added, “you really don’t look fine.”

“The real treat would be if you could get me her recipe.” Lucy was only partially kidding; despite the recent chaos, there were few things their her grandmother’s baking couldn’t ease in her mind. “Thank you. How is she doing? How are you doing?”

For the first year and a half that Lucy was at Hogwarts, Peeves had her convinced that Ravenclaw had two ghosts: the Grey Lady, and him. She was dumb and gullible and eleven so she didn’t think about how he wasn’t even a ghost. After she finally found out that he’d bamboozled her, she actively avoided him for the rest of her education.

It’s not really a secret that Lucy dislikes her seer abilities, but she doesn’t let on to just how much her own mind scares her. There have been times where she would be terrified to sleep, not knowing what horrific visions would hit her if she lowered her guard. Maybe it would be different were she to ever have any positive visions, but they’ve always been disturbing. Her abilities aren’t a gift to her; they’re a life-sentence.

She’s too much of a self-deprecating pacifist to have anyone she’d consider a rival. The closest things Lucy will find are a.) people who were as good, or better, than her in school, or b.) her grandma molly, to be the weasley family’s top baker. For a.), when someone did better than her in school, she’d react with an attitude of “yeah, clearly i wasn’t trying hard enough, this is what I deserve, I’ll just go bury myself in dirt now. find me underneath a troll bridge.” For b.), are you crazy? Of course her grandmother trumps her and Lucy fully bows down to that.

Lucy wishes she had some of her family’s athleticism. She doesn’t need it, but with so many of her uncles, aunts, and even her sister excelling at Quidditch, she sometimes thinks it’d be nice to be able to join in the fun as well. It’s not meant to be though — Lucy is terrified of heights and has the physical stamina of a tadpole.

Lucy would technically survive on her own. She’s able to use her resourced well enough that living day-to-day wouldn’t do her in. The isolation aspect of it all would drive her to her limit though. Despite not being the most social person to begin with, she does rely on occasional socialization to keep her from living insider her own head too much; if left to that, she could easily worry herself into an early grave while thinking about all the things that might be happening to her friends or family that she could do nothing about.

It was only her own anxiety-induced adrenaline that kept Lucy from toppling to the ground. She was prepared to apologize once more when she saw that it was Albus she’d collided with, and instead breathed out in relief. “Hi! Hey, I’m...” She knew she must look as much a crazy person as the rest of the crowd around her, even with worried being her default more often than not. As much as she shouldn’t, she couldn’t help but envy the fact that Albus at least seemed calm.  ”I’m okay, it’s just... everything happening. You said your dad, is he okay? Are you okay?”

By the time Lucy came to her senses enough to realize it was her cousin that she’d hit, he was already guiding the two of them out of the uproar. “Hi. James, hi.” Lucy allowed herself a few moments to breath in, no longer stifled in the throngs of people. Later on, she’d be embarrassed for being one of the panicked, but for now she was just relieved to see a familiar face. “No, it’s... a lot. It’s a lot. Do you... probably not, but do you have any idea what’s going on?” At this point, any answers would be enough to settle her nerves, but she doubted he had any more of an idea than she did.
