i think if you pay $900 for a ps5 you should get put on a list that instantly freezes all of your credit cards and then you have to go in front of a jury of random people chosen off of the street and explain to them why you've made this decision and you don't get to spend money again until you've convinced them it was the right thing to do. maybe i'm a rube but i was under the impression that consoles weren't supposed to start getting More Expensive 5 years after their launch. i also wasnt under the impression that disc drives were an optional peripheral with an extra cost so i guess maybe i'm just not cut out for the console market.

you don't ever have to be fair to a multibillion dollar company's price hikes. they aren't raising prices because they Have To due to component price, they're raising prices because they Get To due to component price fluctuations. youll notice that when corporations raise prices for seemingly legitimate contextual reasons, the prices never seem to go back down once the context is no longer relevant.

my notifications are once again devolving into a spirited debate about the ethics of actions that could potentially make someone uncomfortable, and at risk of sounding like someone about to get a lot of irate anons I think we're frankly giving way too to much moral weight to hypothetical discomfort

the thing about discomfort is that it's an extremely nebulous category that can be triggered by virtually anything and that's far too broad a category to have any inherent moral quality to it. like. my mom was mad uncomfortable when I stopped shaving. that didn't mean I was doing violence against my mom it just meant she needed to get over herself. many such cases it must be said.

anyway rn my notes are full of a lot of "you should never try too hard to befriend people because you might make them uncomfortable" and "you should never tell people you're attracted to them because you might make them uncomfortable" and I guess I'm just wondering why we're acting like a little social awkwardness is the worst thing that could happen to a person

If your automated moderation keeps making the same error over and over again and bans a bunch of trans women every six months or so then it's not an error it's a feature of the software. Even if we do believe it's unintentional (not a guarantee given the history of transphobia from flesh and blood moderators and the site owner) then it would still only be an error the first time. It KEEPS HAPPENING to the exact same minority group. If my car brakes don't work, the sixth kid I run over is not an 'error', it's unbelievable negligence.

to be honest i think some of you are just afraid of someone around you using a word that very bluntly makes you think about the fact that you (YES YOU, WHITE PERSON!) descend from people that benefitted off of killing and raping and exploiting black people on a mass scale (and this goes for non-american white people too i have no idea why people from european countries do not think this applies to them. my grandparents were born in an english colony... when it was still a colony!!!!! there are places that are still being colonized RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!)
