Happy New Year, everyone!
Here’s a video my sister Sarah uploaded of Barry Manilow singing “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve” from Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve, 1982. Enjoy!!
“The Corsican Brothers”, a 1985 Hallmark movie based on the Alexandre Dumas novel about a pair of twins born conjoined and their separate destinies as they struggle to deal with their violence-torn home. Starring Trevor Eve, Olivia Hussey, Nicholas Clay, Patsy Kensit, Benedict Taylor, Geraldine Chaplin and Simon Ward. In two parts.
My sister posted this on YouTube because it’s a really good movie and as far as we know, it’s not available anywhere on DVD or streaming. Enjoy! :)

Parts 1 and 2 of “Live Aid: Against All Odds”, an excellent documentary on the massive 1985 concert for Ethiopian famine relief. The concert is currently featured in the Queen/ Freddie Mercury biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

im bored reblog and add a photo of the grocery chain you grew up with:
which got bought by Giant Eagle
I had two.
I also had two.
This particular building style for the A&P supermarkets was created for the chain’s centennial in 1959. Although the chain is gone, the buildings were largely repurposed into other stores. If you look around your town and see any buildings with these peaked fronts, they’re very likely former A&P stores!
Found this on YouTube, it’s a recording of the full show of Les Miserables from 1987. Great reminder of the classic staging of the show before it was changed. Here’s the information from the video:
"Les Misérables" is the West End's longest running musical, having debuted in 1985 and run continuously since then. In 1987, Martin was cast in the show at the Palace Theatre, and was given two roles: principle Marius, and understudy Jean Valjean. When Martin went on for Valjean he became the very first in a very long line of performers to have played both Marius and Jean Valjean. We are very pleased to share with you Martin's full performance in the role of Jean Valjean, recorded in 1987 at the Palace Theatre. The cast includes: Martin Smith (Jean Valjean u/s), Clive Carter (Javert), Kathleen Rowe McAllen (Fantine), Jayne Draper (Éponine), Maurice Clarke (Marius u/s), Jacinta Mulcahy (Cosette), David Delve (Thénardier), Myra Sands (Madame Thénardier), Martin George (Enjolras), Cameron Stewart (Grantaire u/s)
