Sound the sirens, my favourite end of the year music report is out. And the undeniable truth is: still a run-of-the-mill indie snob stuck in the 2000s (the music by decade chart does not lie).

Macbeth to Cinema from The Donmar Warehouse
Something wicked this way comesā¦. a brand new production of Shakespeareās Macbeth, in cinemas across the globe from February 2025.
Recorded live at Donmar Warehouse, our sound engineer Will captured Gareth Fryās unique binaural sound design ā modifying and mixing it specially for the big screen.
āI really enjoyed spending several weeks working with Spiritland Sound Supervisor Will Thornton to create a 5.1 cinema mix from my original binaural design to sound really immersive in cinemas. Iām really pleased with how itās sounding, and Spiritland were a pleasure to work with!ā

Itās recently come to my attention that I havenāt said a word about my London & Macbeth trip (thatās a blatant lie, Iāve just been lazy), so here goes: MACBETH WAS EVEN MORE AMAZING THAT I THOUGHT POSSIBLE. In truth I still had my doubts about the headphones but those disappeared probably as soon as the lights went out, the music came on and DT first flashed those magnificent hairy knees at me. Thereās so much spit flying past and towards you (shout out to my man not born of woman, Macduff), no wonder the whole company was ill the other week.
I havenāt anything else intelligible to say that hasnāt already been said, but Iāve got a curtain call video to call my own and Iām so happy about that (I fumbled with the phone due to heightened emotions or something so of course I took a photo first).
Annoyingly, thereās a 10-photo limit on these posts? What travesty.
Met up with @theeminentlyimpractical at the infinitely gorgeous Painted Hall in Greenwich, got flirted at by our tour guide at The Globe in front of everyone else, embarrassingly enough (or was it just friendly banter? well, we shall never know now; hey, Tyler, if youāre reading this, Meghan sends her love), so all in all, excellent times were had by all.
