James is peak messy only child representation because believe it or not when you treat a guy like a responsibility instead of a person he’s bound to lash out, people are acting as if he’s some coddled child instead of understanding that he’s made the goal of making his family proud his whole world.
He’s reckless and impulsive and stubborn and that’s exactly how REAL people respond to an environment like this, when your self esteem is so low that you rely on higher authority figures for validation it can go south real fast when you’re doing everything in your power to please them and nothing’s happening, they still see you as testament to THEIR ability to protect poor little souls and not the fact that maybe you’re a living breathing person with opinions of your own.
