I like invader zim like a lot. This blog is mostly zim when you go back, but I haven’t been fully into it for a while (sorry 14 year old me…. I’ve failed you……)

Growing Pains

IVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE PROCESS OF IT OPENING UP IS SUPER DUPER PAINFUL (I mean it IS a massive hole tearing itself into his body) AND ITS LIKE THE EQUIVALENT OF PUBERTY

I have an old drawing that’s kinda related to this idea where his features starting to resemble king’s… I’ve been thinking about redrawing it

I’m not really sure how to show how I draw him, I just kinda… do it. But I’ll do my best to show you! (Also bear in mind this is for my doodles. I only draw for fun so I don’t know any Cool Art Techniques, I just do whatever. For my bigger drawings I basically just do this on a larger scale and then throw colours at the wall and see what sticks)

His head is THE SINGLE MOST ANNOYING THING TO DRAW ABOUT HIM. It always takes me forever to get a shape I like, and then if it’s looking a bit sad I’ll make the top kinda floppy, like his sprites! Liquify tool is your friend unless you’re using the pixelly brush I tend to go for. If I’m using the pencil I like to get out sometimes I’ll liquify a LOT. But the pixelly one gets all weird and compressed and ugly if I liquify it so I don’t use it for that. But anyway, once I’ve got his head and face, I usually make his body completely round. For some poses I’ll give him a little more of a body shape - you might have already noticed that. For expressions I stretch the spade shape to its absolute limit. If you go back to my old posts (like years ago), you may notice that I didn’t give the little spike at the top so it didn’t really look like a spade anymore, I decided to change that because. Well. It’s supposed to be a spade.

I have no idea how to explain this so here’s a video of me drawing him that you can watch to hopefully see what I mean and to see what brushes I like to use! Sorry I can’t explain in words much better. I’m rushing a little bit and also just did his leg wrong at the end LOL so I included a speedpaint for one of my doodle pages as well hahaha
