Sans and Papyrus had invited you to stay in their home with them when you had nowhere else to go after being kicked out of your apartment by your landlord. Tonight, Sans was walking past your room to get to his own when he heard soft crying from the other side of the door. Immediately filling with worry, he opened the door slowly and quietly, so as to not startle you. Inside, he sees you, curled up in your bed.

"Hey, human," Sans says softly, "Are you alright?"

You weakly look up at the skeleton, tears streaming down your face, and say, "Sans... Am I a bad person?"

Sans' worried expression mixes with shock, "What? Of course not! As long as I've known you, you've been nothing but kind and considerate."

"You wouldn't say that if you knew what I've done," you reply quietly.

Sans gives you a reassuring smile, "Hey, the fact that you're worried about it shows that you feel remorseful about your past and, whatever you did, you've grown from it. No pressure, but... if you want to talk about it, I'm here for you."

You sit up and Sans sits next to you on your bed.

"I... I hurt a lot of people," you start, looking away, "I have a tendency to... react emotionally and I hurt a lot of people... I mean, I didn't use physical violence but... I know words can hurt a lot, they hurt me a lot and I struggle to let things go before they get out of hand and I- I-"

Your tears intensify to the point that you are unable to get any more words out. Sans puts his arm out, offering a hug. You give a small nod and he wraps his arm around you reassuringly.

"And every time I look in the mirror," you continue, "I... Don't laugh... There's this line from Beauty in the Beast that plays in my mind over and over... 'For who could ever love a beast'... The Beast, that's me, I'm a-"

"You're not a beast, you're my friend and Paps and I, we love you very much, like you're part of our family. Please don't talk so poorly of yourself, you'll only feel worse."

He rubs your arm reassuringly and you look up at him again, your tears calming down.

You ask, "Do you really mean it?"

"Of course I do, human," Sans responds with a smile.

"It's just," you continue, "You're the only person who would ever listen to me talk this long. When I was younger, when I talked to people more, people noticed how easily I got angry and they'd purposely go out of their way to upset me just to get a reaction out of me..."

"I've never seen you get angry," Sans thinks for a moment, "Or... sad, even?"

"I don't like people seeing when I'm upset," you look away shyly, "It was kind of scary when you walked in here, but I trust you. After a while, I guess I just started closing in on myself, you know? And I'm still doing it..."

Sans frowns, "That's not good for you. You know, if you ever need to talk to anyone, Paps and I are here for you."

"I know," you say smiling slightly, "But sometimes, I get so lost in my own world that I forget my friends care for me and wouldn't want me to be sad all alone."
