Happy World Kindness Day! The confetti cannons are firing and it’s kale chips all around here at Random Acts. We hope you’ll celebrate by doing a random act of kindness or two (or four or, dare we hope, thirteen) today.

If you need some ideas, here are a few ways you can celebrate:

Help someone in need right now. Consider a donation to a global charity, your favorite local charity, or someone you know who could use a helping hand.

Do what you love for others. Love knitting? Or maybe you’re a crazy good artist? Start a project that will help others like knitting blankets for a homeless shelter or offering to donate your wicked mad painting skills to a charity that helps children at risk. It’s a great way to have fun while spreading kindness.

Clean up your act. Volunteer to help with neighborhood clean up or just pick up litter around the office or your school. A little work can go a long way and you never know who you might inspire to lend a hand.

Go for a walk - and take a dog with you. Offer to walk dogs or play with cats at a local animal shelter.  Or get the word out about adoptable pets in your area.  Volunteer to take photos and share them with local newspapers and pet advocacy groups or share them with your own friends who are looking for a furry friend.

Pay it forward. Leave some change at a vending machine, buy the person behind you in line for lunch a cup of Joe, or purchase a gift card for a friend or neighbor in need. Be the reason that someone smiles today!

Get involved: Make a pledge today to donate a few hours a week - or even few days a month to a charity you love. Some charities even offer virtual volunteer opportunities.

Just smile. Be the bright spot in someone’s day. Sometimes it’s the smallest acts of kindness that make the most impact.
