βwe live in an uncaring universeβ yeah dude and I live in an uncaring house. and I shit in an uncaring toilet. but do you touch an uncaring lover? do you comfort an uncaring child? do you guide to sleep each night a cold and uncaring self?
please hurry up in reblogging this I wanna jorts it before someone puts it in one of those heartwarming tiktok slideshows
i was like 'what could jorts it possibly mean' but as with many things clicking the original post immediately clarified the situation
maybe iβm crazy but iβm not actually convinced you care about human dignity and inalienable rights if your outlook on the world is primarily about who should die and suffer
I supported single payer style healthcare for nearly 20 years, a decade before Bernie Sanders made Medicare for All a popular progressive stance.
There was a single, little known event last year that has completely changed my mind on single payer:
Federal employee health plans stopped covering gender affirming care.
Few people know about this. It didn't make the news. But in response to trump's executive orders in 2025, all healthcare plans offered to federal employees stopped providing certain healthcare coverage to trans folks at the start of 2026.
The federal government is the largest employer in the country. This affected millions of people overnight.
There is very little legal basis to challenge this. The Supreme Court ruled years ago in Hobby Lobby that employers can choose what coverage to offer their employees. So at the stroke of the pen, the president took away access to certain care for millions of people. And there's really nothing anyone can do about it.
Yes, only a fraction needed that care. But this is the foot in the door. First trans healthcare, then it'll be contraception, then vaccines, then routine care. First federal employees, then medicare and medicaid.
This isn't even getting started on how hospitals and doctors aren't covering any gender affirming care for minors anymore based on threats from the trump admin alone.
And I reiterate: employees can choose what to cover, and there's really nothing you can do about it, except pay out of pocket, buy your own insurance, or go to a different employer.
If the federal government becomes the sole source of healthcare coverage under a single payer system, the federal government can also take it away, and there will be nothing you can do.
Under a single payer system, an insane president or HHS secretary can take away whatever care you depend on at the stroke of a pen. I don't care how strong the enacting laws are. They can just stop paying.
So I can't support single payer anymore. This was the longest and most enduring progressive position I've held, and I can't abide it anymore. Like. This position hurts me to abandon. It was quite possibly my first and strongest political opinion from when I was young and my mother, a single mother and a nurse, taught me about the iniquities of the healthcare system before Obama was even elected and passed the Affordable Care Act. As an economics major, under a rational system, it should make sense and be the most efficient and cost effective. I built my goddamn political identity around single payer when I was in high school before Bernie was even elected to the Senate.
I don't know what the solution is to get to universal healthcare. Healthcare policy is not my forte. I'm still meditating on it now that I can't support M4A. But I don't think single payer is workable or secure enough.
there is a habit of people to take things they don't like, or understand, and deciding that it is a flawed or wrong version of something else.
you have a low opinion or certain types of people that is totally not based in racism. we get it. but this thing they do is different. it is not an extension of something else you hate. it is not derivative of something else you hate. it is not the result of some vast conspiracy that allows you to connect it to your favorite hate. there are many things that connect; but everything?
if you are a child then I expect your parents might have limited your access to information. if you are an adult; then you have chosen ignorance. it is okay to let people know that you don't get shit. it is okay to say you have never met one of those people. it is okay to say you have never done that. it is okay for you to not like something for it's own reason.

I guess now we know why leftists were so proud of how he balanced the budget.
An example of why one should use the Oxford comma.
for the near future I am going to have to remind myself that sylvia plath is not a new york vigilante who is also the shah of iran. because this sounds awesome.
people talk about how the purpose of a system is what it does until the leftists create more war, more police brutality, and more republican laws being passed in a more fascist government. they talk a good game about socialism and communist revolution but that is not what their efforts result in. their actions are always heading toward fascism.
Who up stroking they sword while lamenting the social realities.
Reminder that bad people are in fact capable of making good art. When news comes out that an actor or a musician or an artist or an author or whatever is actually a raging piece of shit, it's not actually helpful or necesarily true to say "their films/music/art/books have always been terrible." Sorry, but assholes can in fact be capable of telling good stories. Bigots can be capable of making songs that people enjoy. Etcetera. Maybe you personally have never liked their stuff, in which case, cool, good for you or whatever. But plenty of other people did. Plenty of other people liked their stuff enough that they got famous for the stuff in question. And pretending that their stuff was always bad doesn't actually help, because we NEED to come to grips with the truth that bad people can make good art. And if youre going to stop consuming art for moral reasons (eg: the creator is a bigot) then you need to learn how to do that regardless of whether the art is good or not. Its easy to boycott something you dont even like, but what about when you do like it? Can you still boycott it then? Youre going to struggle if you keep pretending that bad people cant make enjoyable art. AND youre going to try to find ways of excusing bad behaviour when its the creator of art you do enjoy. Because if only good people can make enjoyable art, then that bigot cant REALLY be a bigot, can they? Not if you enjoy their works!! Right? WRONG. Bad people can make enjoyable art. Its important that you accept this.

The Chinese shoe manufacturer decided to demonstrate the indestructibility of their shoes
And also the indestructibility of that woman's ankles
This is Peak Yuri media and I hope my beautiful feral daughters love each other forever
the people on the left who kept saying we should be nice to republicans because they were so close to the revolution were just lying; they wanted you to be more accepting of republicans because the left is really close to admitting that republicans are who they really are.
In case y'all thought his supporters were capable of any shame, they still hate Mommy Democrat more than the Nazi rapist.

at some point you have to look at the people who said these hateful fucks weren't so bad, accept that they lied to you about a great many things, stop listening to them, and then see if the information without their voice leads to the same conclusion.
it is said that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink and many of you are lead to poison after poison and drink until you poison everything around you. smarten the fuck up and start looking into the mirror instead of blaming the people you usually blame when hiding your own evil.
The difference is that Biden didn't deserve to be backstabbed by the party and 90% of his voters fell behind Harris because we voted for the pair as a ticket, meanwhile Mainers who voted for Graham Platner should feel nothing but shame and should be grateful that there still might be time to fix their mistake, whether it's from an appointment or an emergency caucus.
