I just kind of feel that if you are clinging to the idea of an afterlife as a way to escape from the reality of death you are in a way approaching it with an emotional immaturity that will long term leave you unable to deal with the consequences of the emotions you are fruitlessly running from and I feel this way both about real people in my life who are very clearly trying to avoid grief by saying they think I will see my grandfather again but also about people who habitually avoid or deny tragedy in the media they consume by imagining that the characters will all meet in heaven later

#and like I understand the difficulty and the pain of it. deeply I understand. and I would never get angry in response #but also saying that you think I will see a deceased loved one again is to me one of the most hurtful things you could say. ever.#like to insist upon denying the intensity of what has happened to my face and boldly assert the opposite of reality is. well.#I know that this is how religious people think because of the emotional cost of the alternative and the sunk cost of their commitment #but I still find it hurtful.

Not saying this about anyone in particular but I think there'd be a lot more discussion and a lot more controversy if Yoko Ono had gained possession of the Elf Stones instead of Ringo Starr :/

Why are so many people talking about Ringo Starr and his elfstones now? I thought this was common knowledge since the 90s at least. I saw a CNN interview from 2016 where he literally just said he used them for evil purposes and no one cared.
