Shouldn’t it stay on him? That was part of who he became, the new unicorn. It was such an important part of his arc and his acceptance into the crew. It was something about himself that he appreciated, that tied him to the people who learned to care about him even after he was so terrible to them.

That has personal value. It’s private. Why should it be on display for anyone to see? That was PART of HIM.

Why shouldn’t it be buried with him, still attached? Why does he have to enter the afterlife without it, with what’s left of the part of himself that Blackbeard took away from him instead of what was given to him by the only people that ever showed they cared about him?

And like I said: that’s his leg. Why would you remove it? Is that not…disrespectful? I’m genuinely asking, I don’t really know the answer. I’m ignorant to what’s appropriate in this situation.

I don’t know man. At first I thought it was a nice tribute, but really it’s just a physical reminder of Ed literally destroying the one person who’d been loyal to him throughout all his fuck ups before Stede came around.
