Okay…. What the actual hell is going over on ED?! I’m serious. This is unprecedented. What other characters in soap history have been pushed on the audience so hard?! I’m getting an icky feeling and I don’t like it.
This feels like … Damage Control.
This mention of him “as their peak of the week” seems to be coming out of nowhere! It’s like Danny posting that clip of him on the swings and saying how amazingly talented he is … he was literally doing nothing that groundbreaking as an actor on a soap. It was the equivalent to trying to sell a spoon: look how amazing this spoon is … you can eat soup with it!
It’s honestly feeling like they all HAVE to say what a great character Kev is and what a great actor he is or else… like their damn jobs depend on it! And if that is the case, someone needs to look into that shit!
He’s been an actor in the business for decades but suddenly, he’s brilliant?! Suddenly, he’s this wonderful guy that people can’t help but fawn over him?? He’s a comedic genuis??! And KEV, a ridiculous caricature of a character is the most amazing character ever to be written in soap history?!
Nope! Not buying it. The character is idiotic at best and the man is a mediocre actor imho… not bad but certainly no Sir Anthony Hopkins or Robert DeNiro or Danny Miller! 🤷♀️ He’s not doing anything but his job but according to all of them, he’s “betta than chedda” and the funniest man to walk the planet!?
Why the constant hard sell? Why do we need all these actors, who I’m quickly losing respect for, shoving him down our throats?! Are we not able to make up our own minds of whether we like the character/actor or not?? Must we like him? Is that like …the LAW?!! Will I lose my Emmerdale viewing privileges?! They are in for a schooling with the likes of me. I’m stubborn as a bull! You telling to like something is a sure fire way to turn me completely off of something/someone. 🤣 Singling him out, putting him on a pedestal and putting all this energy towards permoting him will not result in me not calling out the character for what he is … a self-stabbing, manipulative abuser! So many, to this day, bring up Katie’s death whenever Robert is mentioned or Ryan is interviewed. Who’s out here saying how wonderful Ryan is and how amazing the character Robert is…oh, they don’t have to because Ryan is actually charming in his interviews and professional. Also Robert is not just a legacy character but he actually is complex and nuanced and Ryan portrays all the dynamics of him brilliantly.
If this man’s personality (and his character) is so damn shitty that he is unable to charm everyone himself … so the hell what! HIS JOB is not on the line that’s been made perfectly damn clear. And he’s got enough fans out there panting at his feet and bowing at the alter. Why must we all? Why does the show care if him being an abuser is remembered by some and mentioned?
It’s really starting to feel a bit insidious. Like something else is going on and frankly they just need to quit all this weird shit and be honest.
And what about Casey… the other new addition to the cast who is playing a SUGDEN? HER COUSIN?
She have anything to say about that amazingly talented, beautiful, brilliant, charming young woman who has joined the cast? No? Shocker. 🙄
I don’t care what anyone says, no one will ever convince me there’s nothing going behind the scenes. People will say we overreacted over that interview, but it reallly adds up.
Unless it’s interviews, when do you ever see the cast hype each other up like this? It’s constantly every week, the cast are making sure they’re posting something about him. And how many of them posted Casey when her arrival was announced or when her first ep aired? Why aren’t they encouraging fans to vote? Why are none of them doing or saying anything in regards to Emma and Jeff who have to huge storylines? Not long before Chris came back, there was talks about cast members being favoured. Chris is one of them clearly, the way the cast constantly post him isn’t normal and if this was just supportive they’d be doing the same for Casey. They’d be doing the same for the actors with huge storylines. But where’s the love for them
