About a week ago I made a cypher for Esperanto (i was trying to keep myself interested), with the intention of it being used by the rebellions.

I don't really know how to feel about it. It's what I envisioned but at the same time it's just... eh.
Anyway, this is a rendition of an older drawing I made. The photo takes place in the early years of the invasion—evident by the lack of snow, a visible sun, and trees.
Background Information ↓
Rather than send in soldiers, Sterling + The Primes sent in Angels. They were better suited for moving overseas, and made quick work of destroying naval fleets.
Angels aren't particularly susceptible to bullets: their internal organs are located in their heads. An Angel's shell (the metal looking part) is made from military-grade titanium.
Many islands around the globe were repurposed for Sterling bases/facilities and Kraang nesting sites, as tropical and subtropical environments are optimal for species repopulation.
As we can see, the Primes initially utilized machinery, and the humans under their control were just another tool for achieving world dominance.
But as the global climate grew colder the island sites were rendered useless, leaving incubation in warm blooded creatures as the only other option.
(Incubation, as in: laying eggs in people like worms do.)

I'm not sure if I want Angels to last to the end of the timeline. It wouldn't really make sense to have them around, seeing as their only function is scraping things from the ocean or ground.

Only significant characters will have a detailed description of their death. As for how each person dies, I’ve decided to root their deaths in something realistic considering their environment and the events that happen throughout the plot (ex: torture). It’s also a whole lot of “wouldn’t this be cool?”

Following the “New Years’ Bombing” disfigured animals have been appearing across the East Coast. It began with city rats, household pets, and birds throughout New York City, and soon the phenomena spread to wildlife.
The Hamato family have lived outside of New York for almost eight years now. April offered her family’s farmhouse (a gift after graduating college) after Splinter and the turtles fled the lair. Since then, the Hamato family haven’t come into contact with humans besides the O’Neils.
April’s farmhouse wasn’t meant to house five people. Leonardo had her own room; Donatello had his own; Raphael had his own room; and Michaelangelo slept wherever, switching from room to room each night. As for Splinter, he slept in the living room.
Unfortunately, there’s little protection from rampaging, zombified deer in the first room of the farmhouse. Splinter was caught by the tail and dragged outside. The deer was quick, strong, and persistent.
Two days later, Donatello found Splinter’s body three miles away from the farmhouse. His body was all sorts of mangled— what was left of it, actually. Yoshi was buried behind the farmhouse.
I wish we had more options for colored text on here... I don't think it's fair that I have to choose whether April or Splinter gets to be green each day
I read a fic a few months ago (couldn't find it I tried) with the premise of Casey being found somewhere and adopted, rather than being born from Cassandra.
--- Backstory ---
Casey was found somewhere in south Virginia. He was born among Independents— people who aren't a member of a specific resistance. His family was caught by a group of brigands.
The boy wandered through the frigid wasteland for days, until he was found by a group of sentries in central Virginia. After being reported to Raphael, Cassandra, and Leonardo*, Casey stayed with the sentries until their return to HQ.

I haven't figured out how Casey's adoption would have gone. Orphaned children were either placed in the Nursery, or taken by people who wanted a kid. It'd be cute if Cassandra frequented the nursery considering her experience with the Brownie Clan, and that wound up being how Casey was adopted.
Also, Casey doesn't get his name until he's adopted. Before then people just gave him nicknames. The boy has/had a name before the Resistance, but whenever Casey was asked about his life before he'd get quiet and avoidant.

Casey was found during "Scavenger Hunt"— Leonardo's 9 year crusade throughout the Americas and Caribbean. The overall goal was to eliminate any traces of Sterling on Earth and in the DAY.
Raph and Cass handled Offense together.
Leonardo still retained knowledge from the Hivemind because she was de-assimilated with mysticism as opposed to Purple Rain. Yes, that is awfully convenient. Three coups have started because of this.
I was going to include a small paragraph about Casey having a weird relationship with meat after cannibalizing the people around him. It wasn't for any specific reason, but I figured someone without food would resort to other people if they were desperate enough.

I like to think that Michaelangelo continued to grow his hair out despite the impracticality of it. Before it started falling out, his hair trailed on the floor if left unbraided.
Another thought: Mikey uses his chains in a way that's similar to Scorpion from Mortal Kombat and any depiction of a kraken/octopus sea monster thing. Or snakes.

Mikey wears his bandana as a headband.
Those are sweatpants tucked into socks.
I think it's funny to imagine that after all Mikey's hair fell out, the only thing that stayed were the sideburns.
His kusari-fundō are hidden under the tunic (where his hand is).
He obtained armor after jumping an EPF soldier in West Virginia. The cape came from a winter-wear store he and his siblings raided in 2027.
I gave Mikey stubble to A) make him look older, and B) give off the impression he doesn't have time/neglects to make himself look presentable according to his own standards. We don't know what Mikey looks like before the start of the movie (or the anniversary comic), but he doesn't seem like the type to let himself get unruly.
Michaelangelo was given his shotgun from a monkey yokai named Caroline, who saved him from a kraang-infected alligator when Mikey was moving along the Mississippi River.
Caroline took him back to her house, where she told him about a community of yokai known as the "Tri-light Vandalists". She sent Michaelangelo on his way a few days later with an enchanted shotgun as a parting gift.

Expedition
Michaelangelo's decision to leave wasn't spontaneous; the recent death of Yoshi —who was lost to a flood in 2031— chipped another piece from the Hamatos' already strained relationship. Not to mention, they've recently discovered that the aliens ravaging the East Coast were released with the very same key Leonardo dropped almost 12 years ago.
Though Mikey's older siblings prefer that he stay in New York (even with all the disorder), everyone has agreed that finding a way to reach Leonardo and/or the DAY is more important.
Starting in New Jersey, Michaelangelo follows a pre-set path (courtesy of Donatello) southwest, which is how he ended up around the Mississippi River.

Tri-light Vandalists
Named for their "signature": three floating lights in place of their crime, that disappears after 3 - 18 seconds.
The TLV draws spells around particularly dangerous areas like train tracks, bridges, roofs, and busy roads. Their magic drives creatures away from the area, hence why they're found around areas where an individual could attempt suicide or accidental wander into (in the case of animals, children, and intoxicated people).
Their vandalism has since led to dangerous areas (as mentioned) being safeguarded with fences and the like.
Members of the TLV are known amongst yokai as knowledgeable persons with an extensive experience with magic— hence why Caroline sends Michaelangelo their way. In order to reach the Tri-light Vandalists one has to:
Draw three interlocking triangles,
Multiply to 33 by 3 out loud,
And clap after three numbers while multiplying.
All while standing in a location previously defaced by the TLV.
It's the purple one! A decent drawing, but I hate how awkward he looks.
I imagine that Donatello wears pants from his waistline rather than his hips, which is why his legs look so long. His gloves/gauntlets are funky looking through...
This design is mostly based on Donatello's look in the anniversary comic, but I changed a few things:

I gave Donnie gloves on top of his wrappings, which is a pretty common addition to most people's outfits post-1130. Don't ask me about the bracer-wrist-screen-thing.

They developed in his early twenties.

Leonardo's end is due to a bunch of stuff happening at once. Most importantly, the final battle in which she kills Primordius. Leonardo's injuries were critical, but her actual death doesn't come until she passes on to the afterlife.
Following the events of the Final Stand (the time gateway) Leo's been running on fumes. Hardly sleeping or taking a break or immense stress on her heart and body.
Leonardo died of Cardiogenic Shock sometime in the days-long battle between Primordia and her. Her body persisted on sheer will (and spite), not to mention the wills of her family pushing her forward. Once Primordius was dead, Leo released the hold on her corpse and moved on.
The lack of energy (from Ninpo and Mysticism) deactivated her heart and lungs, leading to the death of her physical body.
From my own research (and subpar connections) Leonardo's progression towards cardiogenic shock went as such:
Catching the flu when she was ~17.
The infection got to her heart, causing Leo to develop myocarditis.
Her heart's muscle (the myocardium) became inflamed as a result of 1 and 2.
The myocarditis developed into cardiomyopathy.
Cut to over 30 years later, Leo's shit is all sorts of messed up. Then she has a baby that came out through her chest and destroyed her heart. Then she spends some 20ish years stressing herself out cuz the apocalypse and thennn….. big fight; she dies from cardiogenic shock.
Summary
Leonardo's death was the result of cardiogenic shock. She died and possessed her body during the last fight between Primordius and herself.
After the final kraang was destroyed, Leonardo allowed her soul to move on to the afterlife. The energy from her Ninpo and Mysticism dissipated upon Leonardo's departure, causing her heart and lungs to deactivate. With this, her physical body died in September of 2056.

Heart Inflammation (Carditis)
A rare condition that occurs after injury or infection in the heart. Recovery can take weeks. The condition ranges from mild to severe; management may include procedures or medical devices.
Carditis can affect the myocardium, the pericardium, or the endocardium.
Myocarditis = Muscle has a harder time pumping blood.
Pericarditis = Sac gets inflamed: pericardium layers (2) get thicker, rub against each other and the myocardium.
Endocarditis = Lining infected by bacteria. Infection can spread to other parts of the body from lining.
Causes
Most cases are caused by bacteria or viruses, which can range from HIV, COVID-19, herpes, etc. Lyme disease can lead to Lyme carditis; Rheumatoid fever can cause rheumatoid carditis.
Other causes include:
Autoimmune diseases (ex: lupus)
Chest injury or trauma
Harmful environmental factors, like lead
Medications for depression, seizures, specific heart problems, or cancer (talk to ur doc B4 stopping meds, guys)
Medical issues like heart attack, cancer, or uremia.
Symptoms
Common symptoms for all three types:
Shortness of breath.
Chest pain.
Fever.
Other symptoms may depend on the type of carditis.

Myocarditis
Myocarditis can result from viral infections like influenza or rheumatoid arthritis. When the myocardium gets inflamed, your heart has a harder time pumping blood because the muscle is weakened.
Symptoms
Shortness of breath.
Tiredness.
Fever.
Chest pain.
Heart palpitations (skipped beats, pounding).
Swollen legs, feet, or ankles (Edema.)
Abdominal pain.
Lightheadedness.
Abnormal heart rhythm (Arrhythmia).
Fainting.
Lack of appetite .
Feeling weak.
Inability to exercise*.
As her disease progressed, Leonardo was unable to keep up with her brothers. That's not to say she lost any semblance of athleticism. Leo’s 100% was equal to her brothers’ 70%— far beyond a human’s, but she still fell behind.

Cardiomyopathy
The heart can't efficiently pump blood to the rest of the body, resulting in fatigue, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations. Cardiomyopathy gets worse over time :-(
Cardiomyopathy is a disease that affects the myocardium. It can make the heart stiffen, enlarge or thicken, and cause scar tissue. Because of this, the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. Over time, the heart weakens. This can lead to heart failure. Some people with cardiomyopathy eventually need a heart transplant.
Leonardo was a special case. Her healing factor kept her heart on the brink of Just Fine and Get A New One. When she was detained, Leonardo's Ninpo stepped in when her mystic energy was suppressed and she was too underfed for the healing factor to kick in.
Once assimilated, the scheduled dosages of EmpPro overworked Leonardo's heart, but also boosted her healing factor. Rather than fix the problem the drug only kept her heart in a state of equilibrium: Just Fine and Get A New One.
After reuniting with Michaelangelo and the rest of the clan, Leonardo had to be regularly affixed with an ill suited spell that maintained the tempo of her heart. In that time, Donatello resumed an old project involving a specialized mechanical heart for Leonardo (her heart problems began in late teens/early adulthood).
The heart was transplanted following Antonia's "delivery". With Leonardo's heart literally in pieces, there wasn't a reason not to go through with the procedure. Her recovery took a while, because Leonardo's lungs had to be partially mechanized as well.
Anyway, back to the thing.

I'm not listing all of them, just the ones relevant to Leonardo. I'm not a healthcare professional yet, so take this with a grain of salt. We'll elaborate on the types later.

Someone with cardiomyopathy usually gets it from their parents. Alternatively, cardiomyopathy can come from:
Infections that affect the myocardium— Leo got the flu when she was 17 and got screwed for life.
1) Let's assume mutagen is radioactive in some capacity. That may not be the main reason behind Leo's condition, but I wouldn't have her rule it out.
2) She was already messed up before getting pregnant with Antonia, but Leo's symptoms got worse with the transplant of her mechanical heart.

Some people don't feel symptoms and don't require treatment. Others, such as Leonardo, experience symptoms as the disease progresses.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Causes tissue in the left ventricle (heart's main pumping chamber) to expand and thin out, making it unable to pump blood properly. Over time, blood begins to pool in the heart.
Usually the cause is unknown, but dilated cardiomyopathy can result from heart attack damage or genetics.
Symptoms
Symptoms don't present in early stages of the disease. As your heart's functions worsen, symptoms become noticeable.
Symptoms include:
Chest pain
Cough and chest congestion Congestion
Dizziness
Lightheadedness
Fainting
Fatigue
Palpitations/fluttering in your chest
Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
Swelling in the stomach, legs, ankles and feet (edema)

Symptoms of BHS occur minutes to hours after the event. During an episode, the release of stress hormones temporarily stuns your heart. Women —who make up ~89 percent of cases— experience symptoms of a heart attack.

A form of shock, in which the heart can't pump enough blood to suit the body's needs. Without blood moving where it needs to be, oxygen can't travel through the body. Without oxygen cells in the body die, leading to organ failure and death.
There are five stages to cardiogenic shock ranging from A to E. Leonardo was died because she reached the final stage (E = Extremis; Cardiac Arrest) and was unable to get medical assistance.
Cardiac Arrest = Electrical issue makes the heart stop beating and causes an individual to fall unconscious. Cardiac arrest becomes fatal ok minutes; learn CPR !
Cardiogenic shock is more common in females and those with preexisting heart conditions —look at leo being a go-getter!
Causes
Heart attacks are the most common reasons behind cardiogenic shock, but other heart conditions can lead to it also.
Other conditions leading to cardiogenic shock:
Myocarditis
Infection of heart valves (endocarditis)
Arrhythmia
Build up of fluid or blood around the heart (cardiac tamponade)
Injury to the chest
Symptoms
Confusion, not being alert
Fainting
Shortness of breath
Cold hands and feet
Loss of skin color
Fatigue
Swelling in the stomach and legs
Poor appetite

so have a middle-aged leo. This is more of a reference than an official design because I don't have a set point in my AU where it's story starts--- i just bounce around based on what I want to talk about each day.

Leo's thoracic cavity was literally shredded after giving birth, and for 6 months post-partum Leo was kept unconscious/in stasis while a team of nurses, scientists, and magicians built her a mechanical set of lungs + heart.
She can't speak for long periods of time, so her orders are a mix of sign language and short commands. Leo usually saves her voice for important moments.
Prothesis
Leo lost her arm at 41.
Her prothesis is based on Guts' (Berserk) metal arm. It's nearly one-to-one visually, but it too is a combination of technology and mysticism.
Like Donatello's Bo staff, her arm can transform into a multitude of tools and weapons. It's primary function (a.k.a my fav) is acting as a machine gun. Her arm accepts a wide range of bullets and, when ammo is unavailable, converts mystic energy into bullets. These aren't permanent; Leo can reabsorb the bullets and create almost infinite ammo (assuming she's gotten adequate sleep and an okay meal).
I haven't decided if her arm can interpret sensations. On one hand, it'd be an even cooler feat for Donnie if he managed include that. On the other hand, I don't think it would be wise considering Leo's arm shoots out literal bullets.
Donnie had to put his logo somewhere.
IMPORTANT! Raph hasn't died when Leo got the arm, so there's no Raph-Bot.
Dead Husband's Necklace
Her husband is dead, but she got the necklace before then.
Since they didn't have wedding rings (or a wedding), they traded items. Leo got the necklace; Peter got her choker.
Grappling Hook Belt
It's not important, I just like giving characters belt buckles.

It's a bullet. This also isn't important, but i think it's cool.

As for the rest of her outfit, the only thing that's different is the shirt and shorts under Leo's pants.
Now, you may be wondering: "How did you look at a ninja turtle and get this???"---- I don't know, but this might be the coolest person I've every drawn in my life so far. Just wait until I come back to April and Casey and everyone else.
BTW, when people post their fanfiction on their blogs + rottmnt community, do you guys look through them? I see text posts on my For You at least once a day, and I usually skim through them.
