Something we recently pieced together is that for our longer switches, we often lose our identities during the switch. Especially for our median headmates – when we're not quite the person we were before, but not yet fully the person who's switching in, it can cause some confusion, and due to being in this in-between state of change, we don't have a concrete sense of who we are (like if you were a color gradient going from blue to red – every shade of purple would be you going, "Who am I??" until you're solely and confidently red). Thus, any singular identity is lost while we switch, and for a time we operate as some blurred amalgamation of the members who are switching. It's a bit of a strange thing to think about, and an even stranger thing to experience. Though now that we think about it, it's probably something we've seen other systems talk about – it's just that most talk about switching focuses on either the circumstances or the dissociation, and not the actual switch in identity.
