I keep thinking about how this is the first time that Cal has been truly alone again since Bracca, and he’s gotten so used to not being alone anymore that he starts talking to BD-1 when he wakes up here. He assumes that BD is there with him because they’re always together now. BD is always there now, he’s always with Cal now, and if he’s not, then something is wrong.

And it’s like the way Cal doesn’t reach for his lightsaber until after he’s started (a little frantically) looking around for BD. He’s not being quiet or cautious. He’s not thinking about potential enemies nearby. Cal doesn’t notice his weapon is even missing until he realizes that BD is gone. That’s when he reaches for it, and that’s when the danger really sets in. But even after this, getting Cal’s lightsaber back is made second-priority for the player (even despite the lightsaber being the only thing Cal has left of Master Tapal). The game establishes that nothing matters more than finding BD-1.

And the relief when Cal does finally spot BD in a cell. “I found you! Are you okay?!” The big stupid grin that splits his face after he drops in and sees BD again, hears BD’s excited little boops. BD tries to run to Cal, but he can’t because of the restraining bolt on his leg. He keeps trying though, wiggling his body and tapping his little feets.

anybody else think about Cal and the Shyyyo bird and feel insane

Shyyyo birds are so rarely seen that they were once thought to be creatures of legend.

Their diet of slyyygs and wyyyschokks led to its depiction as a protector of both the Wookiees and wroshyr forests.

Catching a glimpse of the Shyyyo is a rare blessing that guarantees peace for the viewer.

Cal Kestis Week Day 5: Sign of the Times | Starfield

Thanks to Rogue One, we know that Jedha gets partially destroyed by the Death Star. I imagine that the destruction is gonna be extra hard on Cal and Merrin, and probably make them double-down on their efforts to evacuate people to Tanalorr and fight the Empire.
