The bird hounds are spotty, light silver in color when they first hatch, though they will turn brown when they molt and grow their wing feathers. The wattles (the blue "ear" thingies. Female hounds have them too, but white) won't grow in untill closer to adulthood. Bug here is darker gray, just like his adult plumage is darker morph, and since he's piebald, his white patches are visible from the get go.

You can, in fact, do lighting with the white and put flat colors on top of it.
